German on the hill. Have to avoid getting swept. Been a tough stretch offensively. I think we'll get a good bunch on the board today and come away with a win.

7. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
8. Neil Walker (S) 1B
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B

2. Matt Duffy (R) DH
3. Jake Bauers (L) 1B
4. Joey Wendle (L) 3B
5. Carlos Gomez (R) RF

Walker is not a veteran asset is he looks ar
LarmerTJR : 6/24/2018 2:37 pm : link
Two fastballs over the plate a curve with two. Sorry. They might actually need a first baseman.

The Yank do realize the Rays are terrible right?
NYerInMA : 6/24/2018 2:37 pm : link
Because they haven't been playing that way this series.
This is BS...
prdave73 : 6/24/2018 2:38 pm : link
imo I don't think this was a good time to use German, knowing they need to win this game. You don't get swept by the shitty Rays?! Boone needs to wake these Fukers up! smh..

What about Greg Bird?

seemingly there’s a series like this in Tampa. Where their shitty hitters are suddenly ripping extra base hits and the offense doesn’t do much against their no name pitchers. All against the drab back drop of this awful stadium.

It happens. It’s annoying, but it happens

That Neil Walker AB was sort of hilarious too

I can't stand Neil Walker.

Just stands there and watches 3 strikes with 2 runners in scoring position and two out.

Swing the fucking bat.

He's a guy who looks to me like he needs regular AB's and isn't suited at all to a spot start.

Yeah, he's been better in other spots when he's gotten regular PT - but he's never going to get that here. So, I definitely don't think he's long for the spot he has right now.

That AB before was just putrid.

Yeah he's not going to get that here and to me is really only injury insurance.

They're going to have to figure out what to do with that roster spot. Status quo, bring Drury up or bring Toe back. At least Toe produces when put in a game. Not easy to be a utility guy like that and continue to produce, plus he always seems to bring a spark to the club.

Yeah but this is the 7th time they've played the Rays in the last week - week and a half. You'd think they've seen these guys enough now to be getting batter, not worse.

They saw real starting pitchers in a few of the games. But it is not easy to see somebody one at bat once or twice a week.

Yes they have but its not like those starters went really deep in games.

My point is they have seen these relievers. While it's not easy to see them rarely, seeing them recently should've helped. It's not like this was the first time they've seen these guys. If it was say a Nationals staff, I think your point would carry more weight as that would be once or twice in years if ever, not a week or so.

Candy-ass Kiermaier
GruningsOnTheHill : 6/24/2018 3:30 pm : link
The Rays announcers can't get enough of him and his "gems" on defense.

No mention of the fact that he's hitting .138, of course.
Judge has to

great hit, Gardner just missed the homer.

arcarsenal : 6/24/2018 4:23 pm : link
Tampa isn't equipped to play an extra inning game with this bullpen, so - if we can't score here and we keep them off the board in the bottom half, advantage tips pretty heavily in our favor.
2nd ball they hit
section125 : 6/24/2018 4:23 pm : link
off the top of the wall.
How can that not be a ground-rule double?

Stickball.

Ground rules...they have it designated what appendages are in play or deadballs...
Infield single! Ha! We were owed a break.
bceagle05 : 6/24/2018 4:36 pm : link

Romo is shot - this is what happens to TB when these games get late. They don't have many options.

I agree with that. If you're going to play in a rinky dink park, anything hanging should be a ground rule double, and the upper rings a HR. No way a ball should still be in play like that or a fielder being able to catch it for an out.

Clown shoes baseball stadium, and MLB should be ashamed they hold professional games there. A minor league park, who cares but a Major League one? What a joke.
Never seen Stanton
dune69 : 6/24/2018 4:37 pm : link
dog it on a ground ball. I like that.

I don't see how that doesn't result in a DL trip.

section125 : 6/24/2018 4:40 pm : link
the outside pitch again.

Refuse to take what the pitcher gives and grounds into the DP.
.
arcarsenal : 6/24/2018 4:42 pm : link
Yeah, I'm guessing that's a 10-day DL trip for him.. at least.

Thankfully we have Romine. Could do way worse. A lot of teams don't even have a starter as good as Romine right now. There's really a dearth of talent at the C position across the league.
.
arcarsenal : 6/24/2018 4:46 pm : link
Green looks nice and rested. That was an embarrassing swing by Mallex Smith. Ball was in Romine's glove by the time he swung LOL

Yeah well maybe if Boone doesn't sit him again the game after a big HR, and when he was getting his stroke down, he would've been locked in. Instead he gets cooled off by his own manager for the 2nd time this year just when it looked like he was coming around.

No reason he couldn't have at least DH'd after hitting the game tying HR vs the M's.

They just got swept by the Reds.

He texted me this: 'It's a long season. You gotta ride the waves.'

Yanks will be fine.
