Play breakdown - Shurmur O

The link is NFL.com top 10 Adam Thielen plays from last season.

The first play in the video is something I'm sure we'll see, and it sets up beautifully for the Giants offensive personnel.

Single back, shotgun formation. This is a 2-TE formation, as Rudolph is in the slot to the left of the formation, with David Morgan in tight, also on the left side of the line. There's an X receiver split wide to the top of the screen (left side), and the Z receiver split wide at the bottom of the screen, in this case Adam Thielen.

Keenum runs play action, and the half back is going to pop through the middle of the line, and run a little out to the right flat.

The Z receiver (Thielen) runs a deep post.

The X receiver is going to run a slant and sit in the zone about 7 yards deep.

The Y is going to run to the left flat vacated by the X receiver.

The slot runs a 'Go' route starting up the seam but fading to the left sideline.

Here's what it will look like for the Giants:

Saquon is the HB, Ellison the 'Y', Shepard the 'X', OBJ is the 'Z', and Engram is the slot. If Eli reads a cover three defense, he has underneath options in Shepard with the slant or Saquon, who should be matched up on the strong safety and who should have some space to run and get loose. Ellison runs to the left flat and is a check down option.

In a cover 2 and cover 3 defense, Shepard is probably the primary look, but getting Saquon the ball here could result in big YAC plays.

In man coverage, oh boy, watch out for OBJ deep, like Keenum hits Thielen in this play. Engram will be an enormous mismatch with his size and speed downfield, and if the play action is effective, then it's going to freeze the linebackers and the safety, leaving easy deep pitch and catch opportunities for Engram for big plays out of the slot.

This play is going to work really great if we are able to run the ball effectively, and I'm really looking forward to plays like this that allow OBJ, Engram, and Barkley to have big opportunities for huge plays.

plays and formations like this and others from Shurmur. I think we will all see the flaws in Mc*doody offense right away. If Shurmur was able to execute with Latavius Murray, Rudolph, Diggs and Thielen, I can’t wait to see what he can do with Barkley, OBJ, SS, Engram, Ellison and Shepard. I’m also more bullish on our revamped OL.
Does this mean...

Not sure if you meant it the way it came out, but Rudolph, Diggs, and Thielen are really talented players and outstanding athletes. He had a lot to work with. He only suffered a weakness at QB.
About half of those plays were successful because the QB extended

The play after the pressure forced him out of the pocket.

How is that going to work for the Giants ?
