but I want to see if Wayne Gallman can live up to the potential I think he has of being "ol' reliable" in the backfield for a number of years; spelling Barkley and taking over Stewart's role of short yardage back when Jonathan hangs his cleats up.
OBJ fully return to form, missed watching him most of last year, can't wait for him to be back. 2nd for EE, kid was one of the few bright spots on a terrible team, with nothing else around him. I think he is going to be even better this year.
Defense: Tomlinson with a year under his belt, a year of NFL conditioning and playing DE in a 3-4 vs. 4-3. I think he will be a big part of our defense this year, games are won in the trenches and I can't wait to see what this kid brings to the table this year. 2nd I'm going to go with the rebound of Eli Apple, really rooting for the kid to turn it around after all that happened last year, like what I've heard so far from him and that he is taking ownership for himself and actions. He has the tools, if he can put it all together mentally, he will be a big part of the the success of this defense throughout the season.
But OBJ is a close second want to see if the explosion is still there . I hope Goodson and Jerrel Adams make big
Strides this season . Adams is kinda my sleeper guy .
I think he could end up a better than average two way TE
If Goodson stays healthy were gonna be a bitch to run against
I'm not a big lineman fan, but I'm eager to see how quickly he picks up the pro game, and whether he can be aggressive without getting penalties. Can Eli rollout without worrying about being blindsided? Can we actually get a push from the line on 3rd and short?
Will Hernandez... he is going to impact the entire team imo ...
with his attitude and physicality... he's going to get the run game going - and with that the passing game - and thus, the overall offense - and when the offense clicks, the defense gets rested ...
Hell, he's gotta be the MVP /s
But seriously, he can (and hopefully will) have a huge impact upon the success of the entire team.
But, I will play - I will be watching Hernandez a lot early on ... and there is a tie on Defense - B.J. Hill and Lorenzo Carter - but, not sure we will see Carter early in the season. It might take him a little while to develop before he starts to make a significant contribution.
He has all the pieces around him now including a legit NFL head coach. All time favorite athlete. Love to see him go out on top.
Agree with Eli. Sounds like a lame answer at first, but I'm fired up to see what he does with Schurmer calling plays, a better OL, and some serious weapons
I'm not really excited to see one particular player
what i'm really interested in is seeing competitive football again. Last year was one of the most disappointing sports seasons i've experienced in my life, and I think we are going to see a quick turn around. I think we have the right coaches and most of the pieces in place. I'm still concerned about the O Line, and i'm concerned about the defensive backfield. But all in all i think this team will be competitive, and has a chance at a winning record
...how he adapts and performs in this scheme will play a large part in the success of our pressure packages imo.
Of the rookies besides Barkley I'd say Carter. He's the most physically gifted player at LB we've had in a while. I saw growth in his impact as a playmaker at Georgia last season. If he continues his progression in his ability to diagnose and apply his gifts he could be a real find for us.
1) oline performance
2) defense system change and how the players look from a performance perspective.
3) Barkley (real or hype)
4) Beckham, more of the same or someone that becomes a postseason factor.
Barring health, the OL should be somewhat improved, a dynamic RB is in the fold, OBJ/Shep/Engram & a offensive coach with a proven track record in charge. If Eli has a solid year, he could still be under center for another 3 or so years. If not, we may be looking at Webb or Lauletta starting in 19.
It's been a decade since the offensive line has been better than mediocre. If this one is good I wonder if our collective heads will explode at the sight of it.
For a single player it's tough to get past Barkley. I hope he touches the ball 300+ times.
Hard to narrow it down, but those are the two I'm going with
A healthy Beckham being Beckham. Aren't many players in football more electrifying than Beckham with the ball in their hands.
Olivier Vernon should have an All Pro year
defense: BJ Hill and L Carter
Olivier Vernon should have an All Pro year
Why?
For me it's Eli & Apple

On D it's Ogletree b/c it's been forever since the Giants had a solid inside LB.

He looks like a very good player.
Regular season, Eli, hope the Giants and all those who believed Giants can compete for 3 to 4 years more with Eli at championship level are right.
I ve always been Eli guy, but wanted Darnold or Allen.
But mostly I want to see Barkley even though I m high jacking thread, sorry.

Mine as well.
Olivier Vernon should have an All Pro year
A tweener who wasn't an ideal fit for our 4-3, but should be interesting with Betcher. I hope for big things from Vernon, Chandler Jones sh*t up.

Big Will

at least he can get his kneeling out of the way in the lockeroom and let's see some results based on his salary.

Better than the kneeling you do under the Goethals Bridge, am I right?

Everything to like about Zo. I hope he can become the pass rusher terror we hope. Link - ( New Window )
He looks like a very good player.
This is who I was going with. Nice to have some juice at LB
While the defense is focused on OBJ, Barkley ...
I want to see Engram shine !
