Sorry, and Ricco, all three are splitting duties, that seems like a great plan.
And this is a serious question, does his illness have anything to do with how often he has to clear his throat while speaking? I'm not sure if it's nerves or a part of his health issues but he sure does clear his throat a lot.
like he's done as GM and the disastrous 4 headed monster is in charge. Last time we had this we had the Kazmir trade. Sounds like Jeff is essentially Sandy now. Weeeeeeeeeeee Gimenez for James Shields time.
I know nobody wanted it to happen like this but many get their wish

Sandy will not be involved in upcoming decision making, and hes not sure if he will come back. #Mets
Sandy also said on the merits he's not sure he even deserved to come back. For the criticism everyone has given him, a lot warranted, he deserves credit for his honesty and professionalism. Those are 2 traits this organization lacks at it's core and I fear we will soon learn what that feels like again.
My expectations for any return in a Familia trade just plummeted by the way.
He's a class guy and I wish the best despite the state of the organization. Really class act by him to admit that he probably doesn't deserve to come back as GM.
Hopefully the 4 headed monster just makes a few obvious deadline deals and nothing beyond that. We need a complete regime change in the front office ASAP (after the season at the latest).
Now it will be Ricco, Minaya, and JP Ricciardi handling the duties and coming to Jeff Wilpon with what they agree upon. This is absolutely horrific. Jeff Wilpon is the GM

And now we get Jeff outright admitting that he is the final decision maker and hes been for some time. Those wanting Sandy gone finally have gotten their wish. Not sure the grass is going to be greener though.
In the end, as long as Wilpon has any power as a final decision maker when it comes to players, it doesnt matter who the GM is. Someone needs to get the Wilpons in on another Ponzi scheme so we can get out from under this control once and for all.
How the hell is Omar Minaya back within two steps of running the team
But they need to go ahead and start rebuilding this thing now. Unfortunately because of the lack of talent on the farm and under performing vets. The only way to replenish the team with good young talent is to likely trade Jake or Noah.
They probably won't be serious competitors before Jake is a FA any way.
I don't like him either but as a pure evaluator of baseball talent he is better than Sandy at this stage in Sandy's life.
You should go back and look at literally every 1st/2nd round pick Omar made up until Harvey (his last). Most of them never even got to the big leagues.
With all the regime changes they had in the short time he's been there I'm surprised he's still there to be honest.
I trust depo more than any of those guys to make sound decisions, because I know they'll be based on facts and analytics.
Totally agree - of the realistic options he's by far my favorite. Has been a GM before, has outside perspectives, has some creativity, had some success here, familiar with the terrain, etc. I'm also surprised he's still at Cleveland.
Rico is the point, but what GM at the deadline will want to deal with the BS of let me run this by the guys and get back to you? No one instead youll have GMs trying to get one over on the new guy. With two backstabbers trying to sabotage him to the real boss...
The only good news is its audition time. Problem with that, is well - that NEVER works out well...
I dont care what anyone says we still have a very good nucleus and it doesnt have to be a total rebuild. A semi rebuild will work fine. Trade Familia, Cabrera, Frazier if you can... If you can flip Bruce for another contract go for it. But Im keeping Thor and deGrom.
We can go into next year with our rotation virtually set and basically just focus on a closer and the offense.

Sandy Alderson will undergo surgery later this year. He says his prognosis to recover from a relapse of cancer is good.
And this is a serious question, does his illness have anything to do with how often he has to clear his throat while speaking? I'm not sure if it's nerves or a part of his health issues but he sure does clear his throat a lot.
He is fighting cancer he doesn't need the stress of being GM of the Mets. I hope he beats it.

+1
This. All puppets of Jeff wilpon
This franchise will never recover

Like Steinbrenner decades ago

None of his assistants should be elevated to GM.

Those that wanted to clean house - congrats
