(Ricco... 2004-2018... 5 seasons over .500, including 83 wins... Davidoff frames it like the Mets have been really good with Ricco here)

Ricco's background primarily is administrative and not in evaluating players - more along the lines of former GM Jim Duquette than Minaya. As a result, Ricco likely would need to lean on his deputies for recommendations.
He worked in the Commissioner's Office for 12 years before coming to the Mets in 2004, primarily handling waiver claims and arbitration cases.
So, basically, he was a clerk for Selig, who then recommended him to his good buddy Freddy Coupons. Has no background in player evaluation.
Not trying to rag on him because whenever I have seen him interviewed he seems like a good guy. But this is exactly what the Mets don't need. A poor man's Sandy Alderson.
Ricco - ( New Window )
It'll be Ricco or Fisher.
Not one who has been with Jeff and Fred for 15 years now.
