NFT: Random: Cottage cheese, yay or nay?

LawrenceTaylor56 : 6/27/2018 10:35 am
I usually take a cup of it to work with me, to the disgust of my coworkers. They are repulsed by the mere thought of trying it.

I eat it plain with a spoon, am I alone on this? Just curious.

Its super high in protein without a ton of calories. Fat content is also relatively low. 50g of protein is like 400 calories which is pretty damn good. Some are higher in salt, but i have such a low salt intake that it isn't something I'd be worried about when eating it.
Good Culture Cottage Cheese

Was never a huge fan but could eat cottage cheese. Mother In Law turned me onto "Good Culture" cottage cheese and I eat it all the time as a snack now, just plain. It's really good, creamier than most others I've had.

the salsa mixed in, then dip any sort of chips
It belongs back on a ceiling or a fat chicks thighs

Or mix it with a little arsenic that way I never will have to relive eating that disgusting crap
Pro tip: Cottage cheese tastes better when it's fresh.
81_Great_Dane : 6/27/2018 6:44 pm : link
When it's fresh, it's great. When it's been sitting for a while it loses that flavor and gets at best, gross at worst.

I really like it. (Childhood treat: Cold tuna right from the can, cottage cheese and sour cream.) Yes, it mixes well with other stuff like salsa, fruit.

Bummer: I can't eat it anymore. Recently discovered I'm lactose intolerant. ("discovered" in the sense of "figured out why I've been sick a lot of the time for more than two years.")

Pepper. Especially like it with some crackers. Thumbs down to any sweetened with added fruit

This. Love it with salt and pepper - to bland to eat plain.

Fruit? No.
Use it as a lower fat substitute for ricotta cheese in lasagna.
Diver_Down : 6/27/2018 8:27 pm : link
With all the other ingredients in lasagna, you don't realize the substitution.

I love it. Try it with potato chips, Maybe sounds weird, but delicious. probably my favorite snack.
Just to be able to snack on something healthier

Same. Except I won't try it. Greek Yogurt was a big enough step for me and I'll just stick to it. However now that I'm on this lifestyle change thing in terms of eating, maybe I should look into obtaining a pallete for cottage cheese. Maybe if I buy it, I could keep it in the fridge and nobody will eat it.

Thanks for saving me a quick search. So basically its just as protein rich as Greek yogurt? You get about 12-14 G protein per 110-120 calories so very similar , I suppose you consume maybe slightly less sugar but Greek yogurt looks less disgusting (still looks gross tho) tastes decent though
