When he'll have one tomorrow but I'll give Boone the benefit of the doubt on knowing his team.

I just think you'd want him taking as much advantage of that hitters park in Philly as he can.

How this guy is still around, shows you why they seated some catchers this year. Hes 28 and batting 191 in AAA. The Yanks have no one better than him in the minors?

Thats why they loaded up on catchers in this years draft and IFA. Theyve gotten scarce in the system

Capable catchers of course are always scarce. Thankfully Romine is hitting well above career norms for now as well as playing solid defense

Agreed and goes to my questioning him sitting. If he's going to get in there anyway why not just start him?

If Boone said he's resting and won't play at all, that's one thing but being in a NL park, he said just what you posted.

Maybe they score a lot and won't need him so he'll get the full two days off in a row but it is a bit of a head scratcher to me.

Kind of feel that way about Bird sitting too. Especially with Sale going Friday night, he'll have a few days off in a row when he needs to get AB's IMO.

Agreed. Makes no sense he didn't do it. I can understand the correct decision not to PH for Gallegos there but a double switch earlier would've kept him from batting til the 7th place hitter comes up again.

Then you see what you have to do at that time. PH for him, have him bunt, whatever but Boone basically gave up outs in the top 5th.

waived a white flag from the start because he gave Judge a day off?

It's a long season. A huge series coming up on friday and a day off tomorrow. Not a bad idea to give Judge a day before an off day leading into a huge weekend series.

They didn't waive any white flag, they just haven't hit at all tonight.

These games happen to even the best teams in the league, especially on the road.

I feel bad for chopper seeing a dud of a game especially bringing his mom. I'm hopeful my mom will be up for going on Sunday night.

He rested three starters ahead of a day off, and started a AAA battery taboot.

I can understand wanting to give CC the extra days and pitch him against the Sox, but the rest pretty much says to me we won the series, this game isn't a big deal. By the way the team played, I'd say they felt the same way. The AB's were like a getaway game, no urgency at all or working the starter.

This game was there for the taking with his A lineup in a hitter friendly park,IMO. Let them feast on a place like that and rest tomorrow. If they were in the midst of ten games in ten days, I'd give Boone a pass on tonight but not with the day off tomorrow and a short ride home.

Angels tie it up!

Sheffield is just about ready, if the Yanks want to try another internal option before the trade deadline. They might be trying to limit his innings by keeping him in AAA, as they have allowed 6, 6 and 8 days between his last 3 outings, but is still up to 73 IP on the season.

Remember that his career high is about 123 IP. So, it would be unlikely that they push him much past 150 IP this season. Right now, he is on a pace for just about 150 IP.

By putting some extra days between starts, they might be able to shave off a start or two over the rest of the season. In turn, that would make it likely that if he gets called up, he would stay in the rotation the rest of the season.

I think you are correct. Now my first reaction was to puke and say agreed well said. Frazier deserves every AB he can get and he's being such a pro thus far about this somewhat challenging situation for a prospect of his caliber. But Tyler Austin for all his faults and non Stud traits. He's very gritty tough mean player who attacked Joe Kelly and showed the world what our bench looks like cleared vs Boston, guys like Judge, Betances, Giancarlo, Sneaky Gary, CC, big dudes separating Red Sox scum like bouncers toss out 21 year olds at douchie mid grade night clubs in the city. Austin did something that needed to be done for many years , he said No, you will
Not throw at me, now I'm gonna try to tackle you with my 450 foot homerun power and punch your face. And Joe Torre will reduce my suspension because I'm ethically and morally as well as Baseball Rules/Gods allowed to punch Joe Kelly if I can. Because it's the right thing to do and he did it, served his time, went to the minors, and now vs Boston, lefties, and Joe Kelly, Tyler Austin will get another chance to go yard and pump
Up Yankees nation again before likely being traded at the deadline as a throw in for Cole Hamels where Austin will go on to have an admirable 6 year career where he hits a good 115 homers or so and improve his defense a bit as well as his versatility and will make Texas happy.

That's just my opinion though and likely not whats happening before some try to shit on me for speaking off the dome before bed and a nice long day of work ahead , just two more days of work then I can watch Yanks Sox and sleep in all weekend and crush it at the gym!!! Cool story bro.

Another brilliant personnel decision. Not much foresight going on IMO. Eg, Let's sit Bird tonight against a Righty with a day off tomorrow and then three games in a row against lefties. Either five days off or facing tough lefties should really help him get his swing going. There's no reason he should've sat tonight IMO.

Neil Walker

In the month of June: batting .032. 2 for his last 32 no RBIs. Batting .185 on the year, beyond pathetic, I said the other day. Chris Carter was dreadful last year but was more productive then Walker, Carter was released JUNE 24th last year, how Walker continues to be here is mind boggling, They signed Adam Lind not once but twice and released him twice he would of been more productive then this bum, get rid of him already

Sheffield was also the third SWB pitcher to enter the game, so I don't think it was a let Cole throw an inning, then bring in Sheffield.

You slept through it, they sleepwalked through it.

Two really good plays by Gardy and Stanton but that was it from the position players.

The offensive approach had no urgency or fight to it at all. Must have been close to at least a half dozen first pitch outs, and I don't think they had more than one guy reach 2nd base all night. Four hits all night. Yes, their starter pitched well but they put absolutely no pressure on him all night and he was as comfortable as could be out there.

I think they all had the approach of the series was won and this game wasn't a priority, and it started with Boone IMO. I hate the idea of resting guys before a scheduled day off. Why cool off your own players who are used to playing practically every day? Two days off in a row for a baseball player isn't a usual occurrence and to me it not only isn't needed it seems to throw them off.

Boone was asked about that pregame last night and said there's no statistical or scientific evidence two days off in a row is beneficial, it's just something he likes to do. Well if there's no proof it's good why do it?

I'm constantly dumbfounded in what the Yankee brass sees in Cessa. He's a AAAA SP who has had more opportunities as a possible SP & has failed almost all of them.Pitching him this game so they could throw CC on Friday wasn't the smartest thing they could do. Resting guys when you have an off day today also wasn't the smartest thing to do. Let's hope come October,we don't look back at this game & say why?!

Yankees had Erik Kratz the end of last year in September his first Yankee at bat he had a 2 run double and he did well in spring yankees traded him to Milwaukee towards the end of May and his first game against the Mets he homered he has done well for the brewers. Im not saying this guy is a great catcher hes 38 and been on a few teams but he could of been much better then this Higashioka we would be lucky if this guy even gets a base hit.
