Was fortunate enough to listen to Michael Thomas being interviewed by Alex Marvez and (I think) Brad Hopkins. Marvez was fawning over him, very surprised he wasn't re-signed by Miami. I'm lukewarm about Marvez, but he does know his Dolphins.
I have rarely been as impressed by a radio interview as I was with Thomas. He is obviously a man of conscience in terms of all his outreach and charitable work. I would be very surprised if he wasn't a real good locker room guy. A few highlights:
Asked how he felt about being on the Giants, he was very complimentary of the organization. Asked why, he said, roughly, that "when they (Gettleman) sees something they need, they go out and get it. Need some protection for Eli, go get Solder. Want to establish a run game, go get Barkley and Hernandez. Want to improve your special teams, go out and get a bunch of guys who are widely known as among the best at special teams (never talking about himself).
Marvez asked a stupid question about Barkley's thigh-size, but Thomas came back with, "We all get issued the same shorts. On most of us they're pretty baggy, on Saquon, they're like compression shorts."
Also asked about the Snacks/Hernadez fighting, he said, "well they wanted to get some mean on the OL, so they went out and got it."
Anyway, a terrific interview from a guy who I had not really thought that much about.
It's good to hear that the new administration is serious about fixing it. It gives you a little bit of hope after last season's disaster.
I understand that the kneeling will be a sore spot for some fans. Signing Thomas doesn’t mean the Giants are taking sides, just that they aren’t going to let the anthem issue get in the way of improving the team.
