To avoid the pratfalls that usually accompany a Super Bowl winner the next season. The lack of back to back winners supports that idea.
However, there is no reason to expect the Eagle to not be a contender. They are young and very talented. They have maybe a future star at quarterback on a rookie contract. If they can avoid major injuries they will contend; much like the Giants did in 08, until Plaxico shot himself.
But forced to bet, the smart money would be that they don t repeat.
to do it again . Much defends on their emotional response to winning the Supe. Bill Walsh used to warn against the insidious self delusion that would permeate throughout an organization : everyone thought that they were trying as hard as they were the season before , but truly they were coasting .
Much depends on the job Pederson does in that regard . I see them definitely in the playoffs . There is a pretty good analogy to be made between them and the Cubs. Obviously the wait wasn’t nearly as long as it was in Chicago . However , Maddon hasn’t had them sharp the last season and a half . They are still very talented, simply not as sharp .
And, of course, the usual caveat about injuries . If they get wiped out , they are not winning anything .
in this league is incredible. A 3-13 team can hang with the SB champs.
This is why repeating is tough. Only the Pats consistently play at a SB level. Otherwise, it's the team that gets breaks and gets hot when they need to.
The Philadelphia fans have been impossible to endure since they finally won a SB (after a 52 year wait). They don't seem to understand how hard it is to win repeatedly. Hey Philly! It ain't gonna happen this season!
Big Blue will be back!
Probably somewhere in the middle of "not repeating" and "dumpster fire"?
I would love to smell smoke coming out of Philly in the middle of November though.
To say the Eagles suck, is just plain childish...
One thing I agree with, I don't think Wentz will have the mobility to be an escape artist like he was last season....
I doubt the Eagles repeat, but I think they are more than capable of winning the division again....

Doubt they ll be a dumpster fire.
I can't wait for camps to start. 23 more days until we can begin discussing " real NFL" with the Giants!
Oy Vey
