Cashman is singing Ricco’s praises

I’m on board as long as he gets full autonomy. The guy had paid his dues but there needs to be clear understanding that he’s “the guy”.
Aaaaaaaannnndddd deGrom just got scratched

Think about that a bunch, then compare it to the spin from the Mets. Just think about it...

Is Ces ever coming back? I’m baffled by that situation. I said it all offseason. You can’t perform without your superstars. We’ve been without Cespedes and Thor throughout this entire losing stretch. It just sucks.
Thank GOD Sandy played
ZGiants98 : 6/29/2018 4:16 pm : link
Hard ball with Cespedes and only signed him to a 4 year deal. If it was up to the fan base he would have been signed for 7-8 years the second the offseason started.
Take all my aces opinions with a grain of salt
Shecky : 6/29/2018 4:22 pm : link
Never wanted him here (was wrong) but was very vocal around here about absolutely not signing him to big money and/or years.
DeGrom

Cashman has known Ricco for almost 20 years, that's not exactly unbiased c'mon lol

Never said it was unbiased but people seem to think of Cashman highly so figured it was worth mentioning. He also was specific on why he would make a good GM and said he “checks all the boxes”.
Again
DanMetroMan : 6/29/2018 4:31 pm : link
what do you expect him to say about someone he has known for almost 20 years? Cashman will end up in the HOF and yet I could care less what he says about a contemporary he has a relationship with. If he said anything less than something nice it would be stunning. The fact Ricco has been with the Wilpons THIS long through so many GM's flat out says the guy will not be his "own" man. How could he? 15 years working for these owners suddenly he's doing what he wants? Where were the other teams who wanted him when the Mets were "good"? Guys like Oppenheimer and Eppler and Hahn were talked about for YEARS before they were hired. I've never ONCE heard another team interested in Ricco.. in 15 years here.
Cool.

Again, if I asked someone who knew you for 20 years "do you thinK ZGiants will be good at his new job?" someone saying anything but something positive would be notable. Saying "Oh, ZGiants is a great guy, he's smart, he'll be great" wouldn't be. You don't agree? That's fine/

. It was my take that he went a bit beyond just “Ricco’s a great guy” speak since they may have once worked together. Seemed like he may have been fully endorsing him. Not a big deal though.

are implying Lugo seems unhappy with the move.
The Mets “losing stretch” pretty much began on April 14th and
PhiPsi125 : 6/29/2018 4:46 pm : link
has continued to the present. They sucked with Ces and Thor on the team well before this.

Could Ces have snapped out of it and added some offense? Maybe. But we’ve been saying that about the entire lineup all season. Hasn’t happened with any of them. It’s June 29th. At this point, just lose as many games as possible. Cespedes doesn’t seem like much of a leader anyway.

Lol, Mets are experts at pissing off their players.

I’d be pissed too if I was sent to the bullpen for effing Vargas.
BBI don’t know Z 20 years

But I dare you to find anyone here with a good comment about him

I kid Z, I kid. You know you’re loved on these Mets threads
Ricco has not impressed me when I have seen him interviewed
Vanzetti : 6/29/2018 5:07 pm : link
He may turn out to be great but hard for me to get excited about him.
Just
DanMetroMan : 6/29/2018 5:15 pm : link
to be clear, I'm not already shitting on Ricco, maybe he proves to be good at his job but a Cashman (or quite frankly anyone who works with him) complimenting him means nada to me. And yes, VERY hard time believing someone who has been with the team 15 years is suddenly given autonomy.
Would be awful
Metnut : 6/29/2018 5:21 pm : link
if Ricco gets the job after this year. Team has failed for too long. Need to clean house and bring in a new front office.
Wilmer is starting

Conforto has been hitting a bit better lately. Up to 107 wRC. I think he’ll be even better in the second half. Needs everyday ABs.

Miles Mikolas is yet another great find by the organization. After spending the last 3 years in Japan the Cards gave him a 2 year deal and the 29 year old is 8-2 with a 2.61 ERA and a .97 WHIP. This after a grand total of 91.1 career innings prior to moving to Japan.
4th lowest win total in MLB (32)
spike : 6/29/2018 10:49 pm : link
Next up is White Sox at 28

They've won 20 games since the 12-2 torrid start in April. And it's almost July.

And can’t wait for the next highly publicized comeback attempt from Wright. As we speak, he is in a spa in LA rehabbing.

And poor Jay Bruce.practically a cripple.

It goes way beyond Cespedes and Harvey. Something rotten in this organization.’

1. Mickey Mouse has no business managing a team. He is a smart guy but needs to go manage in the minors for five years and learn how to lead men. Hire a real manger who has played in the big leagues and/or won championships and will immediately command respect. Somebody like Girardi.

2. Get rid of Ricco, JP, and Omar. Hire somebody from the outside who will bring a fresh perspective and not be committed to guys drafted and signed by the previous regime.

3. Get rid of the "injured" vets. And stop signing injured vets from other teams!

4. Stop bringing back guys for sentimental reasons. I expect Grandy and Duda to be back by August
