move him to 7 or 8 (which Boone did) and let him work this out. Similar to Hicks in CF, you aren’t replacing Birds defense at 1B. People need to relax about the slumps, this shit happens.

Agreed. He is their 1B.
No doubt Drury deserves to be up but how much time is he really going to see? I bet he gets in there somewhere vs Sale but going forward is he basically our utility guy?
That's my thinking, and I just hope him being there doesn't cause Andujar to look over his shoulder, try to do too much or press. Sure he's a pro and has to do his job but he's still a rookie with not even a half of a season under his belt. I just want him to play without any added pressure.
Kind of how I felt having Gleyber batting 9th. Just go out and play without being asked to do too much.
Odell goes yard lol...

Cancer. Shouldn’t he be studying the playbook? What a selfish player...
They really had no other options. Austin came down with a bad back and Torreyes is having some kind of family issue so he is away from the team. Drury will get into a game or two this weekend, Boston is starting 3 lefties. (Which is hysterical because they built their rotation to combat the Yankees and all of their lefty power, but now the Yankees are righty dominant, lol. But that’s for another thread). They are still going to send Drury back down so they can gain an extra year of control so this will be short lived, but they really had no other options. And Drury will have zero effect on Andujar and his confidence. If you think that, you don’t know Andujar very very well.

I'll admit I don't know Andujar very very well.
What I have seen is a guy who has taken his opportunity, grabbed it by the throat, ran with it and has no intentions on giving it back.
I love what I've seen and was really only saying how I hope having Drury around doesn't mess him up. Not that I think if will, just that I hope it doesn't have an adverse effect on him. I'm hoping it fires him up even more and he goes on a tear and wouldn't be a bit surprised if he did.

Yeah sorry, didn’t mean to put two very verys in there. My iPad is obviously not my friend tonight
loves when he gets a chance to chide guys for not running hard out of the box. Such a dweeb
He's right though. It's one thing to do it on an infield grounder you know is an out but when you put good wood on a ball to the outfield you should be running hard from the get go. A little better throw and he was out and would be kicking himself for not running hard out of the box.
I hope Judge saw that. You know they're going to throw it there on him too.
So you hope that Judge swings at balls in the opposite batters box? Weird take.
Jeez man you either love putting words in my mouth or totally miss things I'm saying. First Miggy and now Judge.
Of course I don't want him swinging at that. It wasn't a strike but it wasn't in the other batters box either. I only want him being prepared for it to be called a strike. If he knows they're calling that, I'd rather him try and foul it off than have it called strike three on him.

If you want to call the line in then that's fine. I was thinking more of inside the line as being in the actual box but it's no biggie really.
Boy if this is what Andujar can do as a rookie, I don’t know how you can even consider trading that guy. If he was borderline untouchable this past offseason, then he’s done nothing to change that.
He can square up pitches that other hitters just have no chance at
Man, the Yankees are loaded with good young guys. Scary how good they are already.
My brother in law, a big Cubs fan, keeps lamenting that Torres was theirs. I tell him Chicago probably doesn't win it all in 16 without Chapman and while he agrees, it kills him that Torres isn't a Cub.

Flags fly forever. It’s a trade that looks like it will work out perfectly for each team.

Good time of year to be in Wells Maine. Drank a few beer there over the years.

Couple of reasons:
Bird is their 1B and has decent numbers vs tonight's pitcher even though he's a lefty.
Drury has only played five games at 1B in AAA, and not sure they want to risk just throwing him in there in game 1 of a big series.
I think they want their best defensive team playing behind CC

How great is it having him pitch the game after a loss? He's been fantastic at that for a while now and just pitched a nice, calm 1st inning.

I see no fault in noting it when a player doesn’t do it.
