Man oh man I woke up today and was about to take a ride out there and my wife asked me where I was going and I told her Nixons and she's like no you are not.
I know my wife owns my soul because I have no spine but I was like why not and she goes they closed or changed owners. Damn it. Who in NJ didn't go to Nixons? That used to be the calling of the 80s NJ life. Why does everything good have to fade? I wish it was 39 years ago, I could cry.
Their cheesesteaks were A+ and I loved those weird sodas they had, all the forgotten candy and endless dessert option menu.
It's like ahh shit I gotta go out there in one breath but the very next thought is well I'll get to stop at Nixons.
I hope someone else took it over and keeps it the same and it's just not shuttered or turned into a dentist office or something.
Just a cool little deli/grocery store type place with throwback stuff we all had as kids. Good food, breakfast sandwiches, coffee etc but also stuff you just don't see much anymore.
Some old school soda bottles, candies, whiffle bats and balls etc. stuff like that. Definitely a nostalgic feel to the place and just looking around was cool while waiting for your order from the deli.
Oh yeah? I just heard they were done done and their Facebook page is wiped out.
Either that or the owner is Methuselah!

I like it out there. I don't go west of the GSP too often but it's nice to stay within the state and get a nice change of scenery. Love taking those backroads to Philly going through New Gretna off by the fork in the road on 9.

Yeah those are some scenic roads out that way. We did a ton of woods riding in the Pines back in the day.
You can get to Tabernacle taking rte 72 west, and after you cross over rte 539 there's a turnoff on the left a few miles past 539. I forget the rd # but it takes you to Chatsworth, and then it's a quick right and left and you're on your way to Tabernacle. 10-15 minutes tops from there and you're at Nixon's.
