NGT: Kam Chancellor apparently is retiring

Matt in SGS : 7/1/2018 9:31 pm
On twitter, apparently his neck is forcing him to retire. The Seattle rebuild should be underway.

An amazing safety

Sounds like hesmaking the right call as painful as it is
If his neck is as injured as we're hearing
dpinzow : 7/1/2018 9:48 pm : link
I don't blame him. Quality of life after football is now a huge factor for these players and you can't argue against them protecting themselves for a relatively healthy future
The guy earned everything he has
BigBlueDownTheShore : 7/1/2018 9:58 pm : link
He was a scout team QB at VT when I was there and working for the team. Got moved to corner after day 1 (he looked scared shitless against the first team defense). The rest was history.
Not surprised he's walking away
bc4life : 7/2/2018 7:55 am : link
His career was basically a long series of major, high speed collisions. Great player.
Great

player. Best wishes.
Smart move.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 7/2/2018 8:49 am : link
Necks are tricky. He's made a ton of $.
Not retiring - he will never be medically cleared to play again
jlukes : 7/2/2018 8:52 am : link
which means the Seahawks are on hook for money this year and next year for him.

If he retired, the Seahawks would be off the hook
Seattle

Looks like theyll be picking in the top 5 next year. Surprised no one is writing about how terrible their roster is.

Russell Wilson is a great Qb .. he will drag that roster to 7-8 wins

Wilson is far from a GREAT QB, imo, but your point is well taken. Throw Pete Carroll in there as well

Disagree. He's repeatedly shown the ability to win games when the supporting cast was contributing next to nothing.

At least this group

He might but he doesnt have a defense to lean on and he has two viable receiving options in Baldwin and Lockett. No help came along the OL for them this off-season.

I dont think hes as good as many believe, but if he wills them to 7-8 wins that would be truly remarkable. I personally think hell have a bad year statistically boosted by a few shootouts.
Without that great defense to bail him out we will see the real

Russell Wilson this year!
...
christian : 7/2/2018 7:45 pm : link
The offense that was ranked higher than the defense and led by a QB with a 3:1 TD/Int, who passed for a shade under 4K and rushed for a shade under 600?

I don't think you're very familiar with Russel Wilson's ability level.

You sound like someone who hasn't actually watched Russell Wilson at all recently. He was a legitimate MVP candidate last year and it had nothing to do with the defense,

I'm not sure if you might be out hiking while Seattle plays, but Wilson is absolutely a great QB.
When did
crick n NC : 7/5/2018 12:51 pm : link
The word great fail to be subjective?
Wilson is very good in my opinion. 'Great' for me is usually reserved HOF worthy candidates, which I don't feel Wilson is right now.

That's just semantics. I could just as easily say that HOF-worthy can be described by "historic" or "all-time" or - get this - "HOF-worthy."

To play with no OL and fairly middling skill position players and still be as productive as Wilson has been, qualifies - to me - as great. Understandably, if your standard for what the word itself represents is different than mine, we'll see it differently. My point was more toward what I interpreted as the suggestion that Wilson is overrated in some fashion, but it could be simply that it's a matter of how one defines "great."
👍

.
Russell Wilson is a great QB
Jimmy Googs : 7/6/2018 6:29 pm : link
If you can't see that, you can't see clearly...
Perhaps I can't
crick n NC : 7/7/2018 4:12 pm : link
Judging by your comments about Qb's over the years has clearly shown you don't see the position with clarity.
Comment wasn't pointed at you specifically, just the theme
Jimmy Googs : 7/7/2018 4:41 pm : link
being suggested as I read thru the thread.

Didn't know I was being judged for years either. Let me know where i missed the mark...

No "greatness" for Wilson?
Jimmy Googs : 7/7/2018 5:40 pm : link
- Career QB rating of 98+
- 161 Passing TDs vs 56 Int in first 96 games
- Add another 16 Rushing TDs and over 3,200 yards rushing
- Led team to playoffs in 5 of 6 years playing (missed last year with an awful 9-7 record)
- Career Regular Season W-L Record of 65-30-1
- Playoff W-L Record 8-4 with QB Rating of 94+
- NEVER missed a start in career (and he kind of runs a lot)

If Wilson has not played great in his first 6 years, then let me know who has...

Judgement is inevitable
crick n NC : 7/7/2018 6:52 pm : link
Greatness is a different level in my opinion, as foolish as it may seem.
Ok, got it.
Jimmy Googs : 7/7/2018 7:08 pm : link
Now I understand why you are judging me so hard too...
