A radicalized Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly planning a terror attack during Cleveland’s Fourth of July parade, authorities said Monday.

Demetrius Nathaniel Pitts, 48, was arrested Sunday after detailing his desire to join a terrorist organization – Al Qaeda – and recruit others to kill as many Americans as possible, especially military personnel and their families, as well as federal and local law enforcement agents, FBI Special Agent in Charge Stephen Anthony told reporters.

Pitts, aka Abdur Raheem Rahfeeq, who has been charged in a federal complaint with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, was collared after allegedly telling an undercover FBI agent that he planned to launch a terror attack at Cleveland’s Voinovich Park, where city officials were scheduled to hold its holiday fireworks show.

Federal and local enforcement agencies intercept far more of these than make the media; often following activity early on, monitoring, then when there are enough dots connected to make a legal case, they make their move.
Obviously 7/4, 9/11 now, 12/25 , are key dates, alerts, and everything are accelerated.

watched that documentary "The Newburgh Sting" - troubling to say the least. Some cases are very important, some not so much.

That being said - Based on early reports - guy sounded like bitter, loser, looking to do something "meaningful"
Also had Philadelphia targeted for Labor Day

This guy also had a plan to hit Philly on Labor Day.

Quote:
An Ohio man arrested Sunday for allegedly plotting a Fourth of July terror attack in Cleveland also planned to detonate a truckload of explosives on Labor Day in Philadelphia, according to court filings.

Demetrius N. Pitts, 48, of Maple Heights, described Philadelphia as his hometown and the city he knew best, according to an affidavit filed Monday charging him with attempting to provide material support to terrorists.

In meetings last week with an undercover FBI agent posing as an al-Qaeda operative, Pitts allegedly laid out a list of Philadelphia landmarks that he considered high-value targets for an attack, including City Hall and the William J. Green Federal Building at Sixth and Arch Streets, a location he dubbed the “goody spot” for an attack because it would “hit ’em in the gut.”

“We gonna hit the Bicentennial City – Philadelphia,” he told the undercover agent, according to court filings. “Now, that will really open their eyes.”

“Pitts also considered building remote-controlled toy cars packed with explosives and shrapnel to be doled out to youngsters, authorities said.”

What a world we live in.
