All,

Heading to Charlotte for the game Labor Day weekend and wondering if I could get some help on where to hang Friday night. Looking to grab a good bite and then for some suggestions on bars/areas to be. Thanks in advance
Charlotte is such a great city...

im a huge TN fan, wife went there, and it was always close to knoxville, so we visited often..how old are you? there are so many bars near the stadium, go uptown and youll see the crowds, its an upcoming younger business crowd, about 25-40. now im looking at flights!

32 - went to Siena College (obviously not much of a football scene) and had a buddy that went to UT. Went to my first game in Knoxville in 2009 (Georgia - Kiffin Era - upset over no.10 Georgia) and fell in love. Have been doing a trip pretty much annually to different venues since.

Anything more specific for me for Charlotte (restaraunt/bars)? Really look to find the crowd Friday night and dinner before. Let me know if you end up booking.
Charlotte has become really fun

there are a ton of breweries, mostly in the south end, some of the more fun spots include Old Mecklenburg Brewery, Wooden Robot, Suffolk Punch, Old Sycamore. Uptown there are too many places to list but Ink and Ivy is a great pre game outdoor bar that is close to the stadium. South end is the neighborhood just to the south of uptown and they are connected via light rail, those are the two areas you want to focus on.
Watch out for the WVU fans

they are brutal and pretty nasty. Think Eagles fan at the Linc bad, but worse.

Very helpful - thanks!

Shore- i've heard that, hoping the move away from morgantown and to a more metro area might tone some of that down. Don't plan on saying too much anyways, year 1 of rebuild not sure there will be too much to say.

There is a WVU fan club that meets every Saturday at Sammy's Bar and Grill in Raleigh and they couldn't be nicer people.

If you're willing to make a short drive out of the downtown area

my food recommendations would be

Hawthorne's Pizza (7th and Hawthorne, about 5 minute drive) - best Pizza in Charlotte. Get the garlic knots, they are really big and really good.

Beef and Bottle (South Blvd near Woodlawn) - about 10-15 minute drive. Great old school steakhouse. Looks like a hole in the wall. Make reservations if you want to go.

If you don't want to drive, a couple of places you might not otherwise pick would be (for either lunch or dinner)

King's Kitchen (Trade between Church and Tryon) - really good Southern style food. Fried chicken is my go to here.

Alexander Michael's (9th and Pine - between Tryon and Graham) - another hole in the wall with good pub food. Fried pickles are really popular if you are into them. London Broil is my favorite (sandwich or entrée).

And just ate at Alexander Michael's for lunch. The London Broil sandwich/onion rings were as good as ever, and they do a fish and chips special on Fridays that is really good as well.
If you love craft beer and want

a good meal, try the Cellar at Duckworth's. Upstairs is a sports bar with 100 beers on tap and TVs everywhere, downstairs is fine dining with a cellar full of rare bottles, make a reservation.

Unknown brewing is close to uptown and I like a lot of stuff that they brew.

If what you're looking for is just to pregame and throw down beers, walk around uptown near the stadium and you'll see tons of places full of fans loading up to pregame.
