Two summers ago we did Priceline bid for a car for a week in Vermont and stole an SUV for $17 a day. Last summer not quite as good but still got another SUV for 35$. Now Price line has ended the bidding thing and every site I see even with a union discount etc its 60$ or more a day after tip and tax. Anyone got a way to get a better deal etc? Thanks...
Line.
Now... sometimes the prices do get high, but more then 50% of the time you get ELITE value and BRAND NEW VEHICLES, and the price is MEGA CHEAP AND UNLIMTED MILES
UNLIMITED MILES...
So yea, I only book with Enterprise and would never even entertain the thought of ever trying another rental car company even just a search for one unless one of two things happen that I don't see happening which would be A.) a really unpleasant Enterprise experience, or B.) I'm
In Aruba and there is no enterprise.
Enterprise is always the answer.
Best of luck to you bro, all the love.
There are many out there. I usually find the best deal going through the rental companys' websites with a corporate discount.
No advice other than my company allows employees to use our corporate travel rates for personal travel.
so i get good deals through the rental car companies.
Maybe your company does too (without knowing your line of work).
I've gotten Explorers and driven them to Florida at $180 a week before , I've gotten Malibus for $120 per week times 3 weeks.
I've gotten F-150s in Cali for the price of an economy car
They are by far the best, they know it, and are trying to squash the shit out of what's left in their "competition"

for a rental car on priceline? I've never used priceline, but that is surprising.

Sad. I'd rather burn my money then not give it to enterprise
$60 a day certainly isn't the worst, but it's def crappy for economy
One potential hack is to call and say you got in an accident but don’t have rental coverage. Ask if you can get the insurance rate (in your case USAA I believe) for whatever car class you want (SUV I believe) and that you’ll pay OOP. The daily insurance rate is substantially cheaper than the retail rates. If they ask for a claim number the gig is up, and you’ll also have the potential bad karma if everything works as planned.
Another move if you’re dead set on paying bottom dollar is to wait until the day of to make the reservation. You may be able to get a below market deal on a vehicle if that particular location happens to have a lot of cars not on rent that day or not many reservations. Keep in mind you also run the risk of paying substantially more if they’re slammed or being SOL.
A corollary to the above move would be making a reservation for the cheapest car class and then upgrading when you get there. You may luck out and get an upgrade for free due to what’s available or you may be able to negotiate for what you want at a lower rate in store vs online. The downside is you may get stuck stuffing 4 people in a Fiat.
Hope this helps.

Incredible advice.
+1
I fully concur , that's expert level stuff.
Wish I had some secrets on saving money. All I can say is that I'm saving a ton over buying by renting only when needed.
Maybe turn out your ad-blocker and try googling car rentals and see what kinds of ads show up.
So instead of booking for 2-5 days, check the weekly rate and it might be similar price , just one more tip.
Goodnight

Make another reservation with the discount then cancel the original reservation. Then take a printout of the reservation to an Enterprise location and ask if they can beat it. The overwhelming majority of the time they will.
once I got $5 a day for car in LA >.
now it is much more expensive
the problem with off brand rental car companies is they have less shuttles to get you from airport to rental car company and less people helping at desk ..
you end up losing a ton of time getting your car just to save a few bucks
UNLIMITED MILES...
Is it 1970 or something? What car rental place doesn't allow unlimited miles nowadays? Might as well tout Hilton Garden Inn for having HBO.
FREE HBO!!!
Imagine my surprise when they advised me that the contract included unlimited miles at no extra charge?
Then, get this. I hop in the vehicle and immediately discover that there are power windows and AC. Almost shit myself giggling. Pulled out of there so fast...did not want then to notice the obvious errors.
