Giants vs Packers 2011-12 playoff

RobCrossRiver56 : 7/2/2018 8:07 pm
Fun highlight to watch

Eli had so much time to throw and Nicks was incredible.

The Packers were the first 15-1 team to be one and done in the playoffs in NFL history.

The roughing the passer penalty on Osi leading to a TD was an awful call making thew game closer than it should have been.

Enjoy...

Receivers open. Running game. Defense getting turnovers. No brainer!
The fumble that was ruled a fumble
bradshaw44 : 7/2/2018 8:51 pm : link
On the field by the Green Bay player and clearly confirmed via the replay that it was in fact a fumble then over turned after review, genuinely made me think the league was rigged legitimately. I’ve never been so mad.

The regular season game, Giants vs. Packers in 2011 was even worse! Worst reffed game I've ever seen.
It was a closer first half than I’d remembered it

I always thought of that game as one where the Giants were in control the entire time.

Yup. For whatever reason, the Giants had to beat both the Packers and the refs. I was overjoyed when they won.
If Osi
Doomster : 7/2/2018 9:49 pm : link
does not strip sack Rodgers, who knows? That was an easy td, on the first possession of the second half, that would have made the score 20-17 Giants......to start the second half with an 80 yard scoring drive, would have negated the momentum of Nick's catch just before the half....

Osi had those moments for turnovers....
The missed fumble on Jennings
dep026 : 7/2/2018 9:56 pm : link
and the misspot on Ware's 3rd down were fucking atrocious calls. Then came Osi's roughing the passer penalty.

Was that Bill Levy doing that game?
Man, Hakeem Nicks was such a great WR, too bad injuries ruined him.

That and the bullshit roughing on Osi in the 4th Q

yeah
Great way to start the am!

Vintage Eli...Nicks was a such force during that run. The hail Mary before half was outstanding.

Found myself watching the NFC championship highlights after as well & Cruz had himself a game. Turnover city during that slopfest.
It was..

Bill Leavy doing the game.

Still want to know how a play could be reviewed, the game go to a commercial and when they come back, the head ref was allowed to reverse the decision of replay.

An absolute embarrassment

Sums it up nicely. They REALLLLY wanted the team with the best record in football and most popular QB to move on to the next round.

The Hail Mary
Gman11 : 7/3/2018 9:24 am : link
was a back breaker. That play put the Giants in the driver's seat.

The playoff game where the officials did everything in their power to hang the Packers the victory.

PR Aaron Ross was the mvp of that game. Zero chance of returning for long yards, but the way the defenses were playing 2nd half and OT, whoever f'd up first loses.

He felt robbed of a couple SB rings

He made sure the Giants wouldn't win anything with him as OC/HC

I never really thought of the NFL as rigged, watching that game changed that entirely for me. I’m not suggesting there was an absolute mandate that the Packers won that game, but it sure seems that there was a league order that any opportunity to give the packers even the slightest advantage was to be met. Really seemed like the NFL wanted Brady vs Rodgers that year. The Giants dominated that game, if not for those calls we might have been looking at a 2000 Vikings type route.

I am generally annoyed by the notion that a game is rigged, and usually scoff at fans who obsess over how games are called -- and I came away from that game shocked at the officiating.

I know the NFL is inconsistent with calls, and I blame that on the league not the refs. But that game felt like the rules were just changing to favor the Packers. One of the real, genuine satisfying wins as a fan.
I can believe it wasn’t rigged

But I will never believe that leavy was completely out of his mind stubborn, weird and just incompetent. Don’t know what the fuck he was looking at more times than not... just a train wreck out there.
Sheesh

7 years later, there is a lot I forgot about that game and I'm glad I did. Those calls, I remember that roughing call on Osi, I almost blew a gasket, that was just complete garbage. The non fumble, after a commercial??? It's too hard to fix games but man that sure had the stink of a fix.

Wouldn’t be surprised, even subconsciously biased. The Packers were the 15-1 darlings of the NFL and Rodgers the fellatee
