He has sat since being called up. I think that’s been like 4-5 days and he was playing daily in aaa. Not very excited to watch walkers at bats though. I just don’t think he provides enough to take a roster spot. I get ge is the backup 1b option but I would hope someone else could fill in there too. It’s not like he is a career 1b or gold glover there
Despite his HR the other night, the guy can't hit his weight.
I can only assume they want to give Romine a little more rest
He had a strained calf the other day. They cannot take a chance on really hurting it when Higgy can catch for a couple days and save Romine. There isn't a big enough difference to be noticeable.

Pretty sure it's a hammy but your point remains the same. Better to be safe with Gary out for awhile longer.
RE: RE: RE: RE: Why is Higashioka catching again? Â
they are hot, and hopefully the team will be well rested as the season heads into September. Thankfully this team can overcome a lot given the amount of offense we generate.
Outside of Chris Sale, the Yankees have mostly owned LH starters this year.
Agreed but I've got to see Sale not wear out as the year winds down before I'm gonna be real concerned about him. Yanks will get to him down the stretch IMO.
teams bitch about balls and strikes and the Yankees players rarely even acknowledge a bad call. Gardner is really the only that rolls his eyes and does a walk about...

And Judge sees more of them than anyone in baseball, too.
RE: Fascinating for me that Gray is pitching like a 5th starter Â
with confidence issues and these two kids are pitching really well and clearly aren't fazed by pitching in the bigs.
Agree. It makes it even more fascinating when you take into consideration that Gray has big league experience prior to the Yankees (unlike the kids who you are referring to) and pitched well in that time in the bigs before coming here. Really hope he gets it together at some point, but I'm not counting on it, sadly.
with confidence issues and these two kids are pitching really well and clearly aren't fazed by pitching in the bigs.
That’s because the Yankees do an exceptional job preparing their young players from the second they get into the system. Aaron Boone speaks about it often. The Yankees not only prepare these kids on the field, they prepare them for everything off the field. The life style, being in NY, what it takes to be a Yankee, etc. When they arrive, they are prepared. You can’t say the same for guys coming in from other systems. I’m confident in saying had Sonny Gray come up through the Yankees system, he’d be much better off right now.
Is infuriating serval chances to blow the game open instead the score on walks and a wild pitch yes they are runs but now it’s a ball game again
Fucking bullshit. 6 runs through 4 innings and the offense is “infuriating. Some of you need to find a different team to watch because you’re absolutely insufferable and clueless
Another very impressive outing for German thus far. Really like this dude.
Eh
To elaborate a bit, he strikes me as a guy that will always tease you. Some amazing starts followed by stuff like that just now. Walking keadoff hitters with a 6-0 lead, shaky command, hits on 0-2 pitches. I like his arm, but there’s a lot of work left for him
So when did Nick Markakis start wintering in the DR, anyway? Â

Yeah, the old narrative that the nitwits around here like to pass around. Homeruns suck. I sure wish they’d could turn some of these HRs into singles, damn it!
You go away. Worst team in the majors since June 1st with RISP.
And what is their record in that span?
It’s amazing, isn’t it? No matter how much data these clowns see, they continue to insist that HRs are a bad thing. Never mind the fact that it is much, much, much harder to string together hits against major league pitching than it is to hit a HR. They somehow think if we take away half the HRs this team would suddenly hit their little singles with RISP. If they want a team that hits singles, they should be Royals fans.
I know it’s hard, but the best thing that you can do when you see an asinine, know-nothing post is to 100% ignore it.

Ha ha. Plenty tall enough. If Judge doesn't jam his shoulder on the wall last night, he catches Acuna's HR. Stanton could have had Markakis' - Judge would have had it.
Come October pitching and small ball are key, can't just depend on the HRs when you're facing ace pitchers and it's 50 degrees out. They've left like 100 guys on base this series so far.
Come October pitching and small ball are key, can't just depend on the HRs when you're facing ace pitchers and it's 50 degrees out. They've left like 100 guys on base this series so far.
How many runs have the Braves scored outside the long ball? This incessant whining has got to stop. The Braves have 11 hits and less runs than the Yankees. It freaking has nothing to do with hitting HRs!!!! Them hitting less HRs doesn’t guarantee more hits with RISP. And oh, btw, while everyone is focused on June, the Yankees were 2nd in the AL in hitting with RISP from April to May. So you tell me, is it because they hit too many HRs or they are just in a funk in that regard?

April THROUGH May, the Yankees were 2nd in the AL in hitting with RISP is what I meant to say. Were they not a HR hitting team then? Hitting HRs has nothing to do with hitting with RISP
I saw the posts above and the arguing. Not trying to fan the flames, but one stat I always look at is RISP. Look at last nights game and you see why they lost. Couldn’t get a clutch hit with RISP when they needed it. They would have destroyed the Braves last night w some clutch hitting. I love HRs and this has nothing to do with it. Would just like to see more singles when they are really needed. Of course they aren’t trying to strike out and the batting order is irrelevant as someone else said in a different post. I think Torres or Gardner in the 9 hole is great to turn around the lineup.
And NO I don’t know the league avg for RISP or any of that shit, I just care about the Yankees. This team is one of the best in my lifetime and built to last.
about HRs. This is the league now and we are the best at it, the horror. Other teams struggle “manufacturing” runs too, I can think of atleast 25 teams who’s fans complain about it.

Yanks won’t be going 162-0, it’s ok.

The short right field porch has had more effect on this series than any I can remember. As much as made in the media and opposing fans (hi Mets fans), I honestly don’t think the short porch has been that much of an issue. But this series it’s playing a huge factor
Come October pitching and small ball are key, can't just depend on the HRs when you're facing ace pitchers and it's 50 degrees out. They've left like 100 guys on base this series so far.
This is probably the dumbest thing people can think about baseball and it is so outdated. There is no such thing as "small ball". The Yankees get on base. The Yankees move runners over. The Yankees go the other way. The Yankee score lots of runs. RISP averages have nothing to do with home runs. The idea that a hitter doesn't get a base hit with a runner on second because he is trying for a home run is just idiotic and fan nonsense.
The Yankees hit home runs cause their hitters hit the crap out of the baseball and usually get the ball in the air which sabermetrics have shown you want to do as opposed to hitting it on the ground. Averages are way down around baseball thanks to the shift. If you aren't hitting home runs your offense is probably struggling.

Day off I assume
Its been insanely hot over the past few days- even 21 year olds need a break.
THanks for the info, Dave. Hope it's nothimg.

Blame Kay. I originally heard hammy. Kay said calf. IDK - definitely a leg issue!
Just what we need. Someone else to get hot while Sanchez is out and Bird hasn't gotten going yet.
Sure is nice to have a deep lineup so one or two guys don't have to do all the heavy lifting.

Saw a pile of sliders and I'm sure that is what he was looking for/expecting. Good pitching.

Patience grasshopper.
Tanaka returns to the rotation next Monday. German will be fine- had a bad inning.
Sanchez will probably be back right after the All Star break in 2 weeks.
Bird just needs time. With this offense, they can afford to run him out there and eventually find his way.
I am actually more concerned about the bullpen getting rest than any other issue.

They have Kahnle at SWB. I think the pen is fine as is. A reliable innings eater SP is likely. I think it will be Happ.

Going back to Warren doesn't have me feeling great right now... but we don't have many other options after last night. Ugh.
We? Did I miss something? I thought you were a Met fan.
Yes.
Yes.
Was.
Welcome aboard.
Thank, bud!
