He has sat since being called up. I think that’s been like 4-5 days and he was playing daily in aaa. Not very excited to watch walkers at bats though. I just don’t think he provides enough to take a roster spot. I get ge is the backup 1b option but I would hope someone else could fill in there too. It’s not like he is a career 1b or gold glover there
Despite his HR the other night, the guy can't hit his weight.
I can only assume they want to give Romine a little more rest
He had a strained calf the other day. They cannot take a chance on really hurting it when Higgy can catch for a couple days and save Romine. There isn't a big enough difference to be noticeable.

Pretty sure it's a hammy but your point remains the same. Better to be safe with Gary out for awhile longer.
RE: RE: RE: RE: Why is Higashioka catching again? Â
they are hot, and hopefully the team will be well rested as the season heads into September. Thankfully this team can overcome a lot given the amount of offense we generate.
Outside of Chris Sale, the Yankees have mostly owned LH starters this year.
Agreed but I've got to see Sale not wear out as the year winds down before I'm gonna be real concerned about him. Yanks will get to him down the stretch IMO.
teams bitch about balls and strikes and the Yankees players rarely even acknowledge a bad call. Gardner is really the only that rolls his eyes and does a walk about...

And Judge sees more of them than anyone in baseball, too.
RE: Fascinating for me that Gray is pitching like a 5th starter Â
with confidence issues and these two kids are pitching really well and clearly aren't fazed by pitching in the bigs.
Agree. It makes it even more fascinating when you take into consideration that Gray has big league experience prior to the Yankees (unlike the kids who you are referring to) and pitched well in that time in the bigs before coming here. Really hope he gets it together at some point, but I'm not counting on it, sadly.

That’s because the Yankees do an exceptional job preparing their young players from the second they get into the system. Aaron Boone speaks about it often. The Yankees not only prepare these kids on the field, they prepare them for everything off the field. The life style, being in NY, what it takes to be a Yankee, etc. When they arrive, they are prepared. You can’t say the same for guys coming in from other systems. I’m confident in saying had Sonny Gray come up through the Yankees system, he’d be much better off right now.
Day off I assume
Its been insanely hot over the past few days- even 21 year olds need a break.
THanks for the info, Dave. Hope it's nothimg.
Because they dont want Romine catching both to ight and tomorrow afternoon. So they chose to play Romine tomorrow

Blame Kay. I originally heard hammy. Kay said calf. IDK - definitely a leg issue!
Just what we need. Someone else to get hot while Sanchez is out and Bird hasn't gotten going yet.
Sure is nice to have a deep lineup so one or two guys don't have to do all the heavy lifting.
I’m sure he wasn’t whining about the short porch on Acunas HR last night though...

LOL, Newcomb whining about the short porch.

Of course not! Only when it doesn't benefit them they care.
can't fault Walker, he crushed that.

I think they said on pregame that they are 20-6 against left handed starters? That’s incredible
