The kids, even in Elementary School, are responsible for CLEANING the school. Everything from wiping down the desks to wiping the floors in the hallways. It is actually kind of remarkable to watch.

Japan is a collectivist society
Deejboy : 7/5/2018 6:04 am : link
They have very little individualism. So that is why they always clean up after themselves and work together to make their society better. Americans can admire that but there are tons of drawbacks to their collectivism. Immigration is pretty much unheard of and outsiders rarely can fit in. There is very little independent thought and rocking the boat. Rules are followed and rarely questioned. Authority is always right and present. There is just a feeling of being trapped which is probably why the suicide rate is second highest in the developed world behind fellow collectivist society South Korea at 19.5% compared to the U.S.'s 13.5%.
Several countries would..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/5/2018 8:23 am : link
feel like they are developed who have higher suicide rates that Japan:

- Belgium
- Ukraine
- Latvia
- Russia
- Poland
- South Korea
- Lithuania
- Belarus

Even India although I'd get the point if that wasn't considered developed.

For the record, the suicide rates are typically per 100K, not per 100. So your percentages are off by three decimal places. A 19.5% suicide rate would be unfathomable.
That is really nice to see
