Lake Mary
Found sleeping in his Caddy.
Cop woke him up and he took off. Swiped a vehicle and crashed.
Charged dui agrevated assault and possession off, yikes heroine.
Sorry still don’t know how to link ...
on a tangent, but with the prevalence of opioids and pain killers in sports, I'm surprised there isn't a bigger heroin problem. especially once players retire, still have pain, and don't have access to pain meds as easily.
not saying necessarily that's the case here, but I wouldn't be shocked.
Of life after football for lots of guys:
Lots of free time,
Often lots of $$$,
No backup plan for a post football career,
The wrong associates,
Pain;
makes for a bad combination.
enough money(big assumption, I know) to easily last a lifetime or two, why not do what you want to do within the safe confines of your home?
people using heroin aren't too concerned with safety
Perhaps, but I wouldn’t want to get thrown in jail. I’d prefer getting high where no one could nab me..
You are assuming that the user will choose to wait to get high in the safety of their home. Regardless of his financial earnings, he still has a dependency on illicit drugs. Most drug users do not have home delivery so they must meet up with a dealer to get their supply. I presume Barry didn't want his supplier to know where he lived or even know who he is. So eliminating the background info, he is just another user. Most users are so dependent on their drug of choice that they can not personally choose to wait until they are in the safety/privacy of their home. The impulse to use and get their fix overrides their own best judgement so they satiate their appetite for the drug soon after procuring their supply. The safety/privacy of their vehicle often suits their short-term needs.

I hear you. That’s just what I would have done. As an alcoholic (I stopped in ‘93), I never wanted to get stopped and arrested. I chose to drink at home where I couldn’t get in trouble with the law

I wonder how many pitchforks are coming out for you with that comment prior to remember his sack dance :)

LOL, it was maybe the most famous Giants sack dance ever.
Not to make light of the situation, but first thing I thought of.
Actually, it sounds like a perfect mix, if your using the Heroine as a pain killer.

He’s been out of football for 3 years so I’m pretty sure that’s not the reason.

He could have been hooked on pain meds for all we know. The pain and aches of football last a hell of lot longer then your playing career.
