I do not want to give up any good players for
superspynyg : 7/7/2018 2:39 pm : link
a 1 year rental. Happ is a 35 year old pitcher who is having a good season...not great.

he has a 4.03 era with 110 k's. That's is good not great. He is not worth giving up any of our top prospects for. He is a URFA next season.
Loaisiga had a MRI on his right shoulder... it showed
shockeyisthebest8056 : 7/7/2018 2:40 pm : link
"shoulder inflammation" according to Bryan Hoch. He'll see another doctor on Monday.
Wow at our rotation situation right now.

I'd agree with that except he's done well vs the Sox. I don't want to give up a lot for him either but we still have a decent amount of games left vs the Sox and he could be a difference maker.

Would have to imagine Sheffield will be in line for a start soon. Or maybe Hale as he pitched well least night
Hale was DFA'd. They need him to pass waivers.

I’d give up a good prospect for happ but like you said not an elite one. Happ is kind of perfect for the yanks — he’s a lefty and maybe a bit underrated. Won’t have to liquify the farm but he should represent an upgrade over the likes of gray or German or someone not named severino,CC or hopefully Tanaka. He would slide right into the 4th spot. Lefty in Yankee stadium... sign me up.

It would be nice if they’d hurry this up. Like, within the next half hour? Unless of course he already knows he has a good chance to end up in NY and goes out there and does us a solid today...

Same here. Then I'd go after Hamels if they can't get Happ but I want no part of Fulmer or Harvey.

I'd also see what it would take for Hand from SD while I'm at it. Even though I know he'd be costly.

We have to winder whether this is a "conveninently timed" injury- the Yanks need to limit Loaisiga's innings, and this allows them to shut him down for a few weeks and help keep him near the cap.
With Jonathan Loaisiga hurt...
BC Eagles94 : 7/7/2018 3:44 pm : link
Cessa will now make the other start on Monday in double header. He will be the extra player for the double header and then go right back down to minors. DFA'ing Hale was a no brainer since he wouldn't be available for 4-5 days. Already carrying an extra pitcher so a position player was the move. Not to mention def needed Frazier with the two lefties pitching this weekend and a double header on Monday. Tanaka back on Tuesday.

No. Yanks can do whatever they want with him down in minors. Rest him without DL'able injury. You dont give someone a MRI, and lessen his trade value with a fake injury. Stupid theory.
I don't think Loaisiga
Giantsfan79 : 7/7/2018 3:48 pm : link
will help the big club much more this year. He jumped from Single A to the majors and while he pitched great in 2 starts - against weak teams - he looked average at best in his other two starts. If he finished out the year in Double or Triple A, continues to build his arm strength & experience, and comes to spring training next year to compete that's a win. Even in the bullpen, would you really want him facing a playoff team down the stretch?

I didn't think last year was an aberration, but he's showing even more power this year. Also heard he's among the leaders in takes at pitches out of the strike zone. He looks good in the four spot too.

Haha. Here I am saying how I didn't like what I was seeing from Gardy vs lefties and he leads off the game going yard vs one!

Maybe seeing Frazier get called up did have something to do with it. Kinda like Bird last week when they called Drury up.
Why did
mitch300 : 7/7/2018 4:18 pm : link
They DFA Hale? I understand sending him down after yesterday. However, he's been pitching good lately. Why would someone else not pick him up. Am I missing something. Also heard on WFAN today the redsux are rated # 1 and Houston #3 and the Yankees 22nd in risp this season. Sat year we lost twice to Houston in the post season giving up 2 runs twice. Everyone is obsessed with the Yanks having to get pitching. It would be nice, it is not a necessary IMHO.

Hale's been in the league since 2013, so he's out of options and has to pass through waivers before going to the minors.

I don't think this is what is going to happen.

I think Tanaka pitches one of the games- but I think with Loiasiga going down, there is a good chance that the Yanks might start Sheffield.

Sheffield is the scheduled starter tomorrow for AAA. It would not be a big deal to bump his start back one day. Remember that the Yanks just opened a 40 man roster spot by DFAing Hale. That can easily go to Sheffield.

Lol. That would explain all the walks and his helping Stanton on that infield grounder...
Happ can make Andujar look particularly terrible

TJ : 7/7/2018 4:55 pm : link
but feels like this team strands bases loaded all the time. I hate when that happens. Just yesterday Stanton had a horrible at bat for a guy as good as he is and struck out after starting 3-0 with based loaded.

About time someone on the bench gave an ump shit for questionable/bad strike calls. It'd be nice if Boone threw a shit fit one of these times though.
Just got here and I
section125 : 7/7/2018 5:28 pm : link
see CC was tossed from the bench for arguing pitches and then I see Blue Jays manager John Gibbons tossed for the same.

I would think that the ump has a problem if both sides have people tossed arguing balls and strikes. This is the shit that MLB needs to discipline umpires for.

Wrong Rich. Tanaka is pitching TU. CC is pitching one of the DH games. Cessa will be pitching the other. They're not going to commit a 40 man spot to Sheffield yet, unless he is really needed. And a one-time spot start for a DH is not that.
