Girardi was a robot and put the same guys in the same spots all the time, regardless of performance...like he owed them something. Boone was like that earlier in the year. But of late he has really moved people around to get hotter hitters up in the order and slumping hitters down. Let guys come out of their slumps at bottom of the order and not in the middle. He has dropped Bird, and even Didi at times...and moved up Hicks and the kids (Andujar & Torres).
Hicks as expected getting a rest today. Really hope he is good for DH tomorrow or we have a problem. Boone won't want Gardner in CF for 18 innings. And good to see Drury getting a shot at 2B against lefties the last couple days (Wilson is putrid vs. lefties). I know Drury hasn't played there all year and they like him more at 3B, but he played there all year last season.
Hicks has been on fire so it sucks that he's out Â
But of all the times for it to happen, it's better happening when Frazier is on the MLB club. That said, we're going to miss Hicks' glove in center. He's underrated as a fielder. He's up there with the gold glovers imo. Gardner's arm kills me.
Always like the young guys, so hope German sparkles and will be rooting for Frazier. When I got the tickets I was most excited about seeing Torres. Oh well.
I hope Hicks out is temporary. Worried about his going cold as well as his injury history.
RE: Hicks has been on fire so it sucks that he's out Â
I'm not sure he went around on the 1st pitch but looked to me he was looking change up/waste pitch on the 3rd and got a fastball right down the middle instead. Gotta do better than that in that spot.
German looking sharp though. Getting innings from him today will be big with the double header tomorrow.
Chapman said he's fine to pitch, although he also said the pain in his knee was unlike any pain he'd felt before. Boone didn't explicitly say Chapman couldn't pitch, but hinted that giving him more rest was very likely.
Can we finally admit that Stanton has been in the middle of Â
I hear ya man and for the life of me I just don't get it.
Judge is one of the big stars in the game with a damn good eye. I'm not expecting them to give him calls because of that but I sure as hell expect them to not make so many bad calls against him. Just make the correct calls on him for fucks sake.
To tell you the truth I am actually surprised whenever they don't score 4-5 runs in a game.
Really what?? The offense has been dreadful with RISP german pitches a great game and they couldn’t score for him against a rookie pitcher
I would've thought my post was pretty self explanatory but let's see if I can make it a bit easier to understand.
They have an offense that is capable of scoring a lot and usually does. I am surprised when they don't. Regardless of who they're facing or what they're doing lately with RISP, I'm still surprised when they don't score at least 4-5 runs in any game.

Came early but no BP :(

Disagree. Especially for a lf/cf guy his arm is fine. he's real good at setting himself up for the throw.
Nice job by the kid getting the RBI in his first ever cleanup at bat. Didn't try and do too much. Well at least not after the first swing anyway lol.
Once he gets more selective, he's going to be even more fun to watch at the plate.
They said Boone didn't say he wasn't. Kenny said that he probably is looking to avoid using him and likely wouldn't.

If the second half is more like this, sign me up.

No doubt.
He's found his groove and I just want to watch one of his 15+ HR months to go along with his other hits.
He looks like a good right fielder too but he worries me a bit. Seems like there's not a wall he doesn't like.

Yeah. I definitely prefer him at DH. Judge is probably a top 3 RF glove though, so we're a little spoiled.

And he just called a better low ball to the Jays #9 hitter a ball. That pitch was better and higher than any of the two he called on Judge.
Kid deserved better today and some runs here would be nice. Give him a shot at a win.
Really?
To tell you the truth I am actually surprised whenever they don't score 4-5 runs in a game.
No intelligent thought
No surprise here

Yeah we could use one right here.
Never mind. I'll take the pick off

Ranked 22nd in baseball with RISP. Yes I’m intelligent enough to know that
