Getting into the lane and making plays. Knox’s jumper is off but he’s still been able to contribute by getting to the line and rebounding, also really like what I’m seeing from Robinson.
I’m not impressed at all with Trier, he seems like a ball hog.
I'm not super impressed with Trier. Don't like his future unless he rewires how he plays. He doesn't look for his teammates at all and you can tell he is the kind of player that decides he is going to take it and doesn't look up.
Knox couldn't buy a shot in the first half. I think he got all his points from the free throw line, but he settled in nicely in the second.
Mitchell Robinson is just oozing with potential. He's fouling a lot because of his rust and his conditioning but when he gets stronger and better conditioned, he's going to be incredible to watch.
Frank looked SOOOOOOO much better on offense today than he did yesterday. Love those fadeaways.
Dotson looked completely lost tonight. He also couldn't hit a free throw.
scoring without shooting well and doesnt seem like he is chucking...
his dribble drive game has been impressive so far...
showed it more in the first game but he knows how to get easy buckets in transition, he knows when to release...
the jumper will fall, he has good form saw it a little bit in the second half and then trier decided he waa the best pkayer on the court and never passed to anyone...
i also liked how angey he got at the end when they lost, nice to see a player care that much, especially in summer league and a player that was picked in the lottery..
That I am excited about the Knicks and their future. Things are looking up. At the very least there is hope and I think that's pretty important for a losing culture.
There are 3 player we should care about on this team Â
He is looking like a typical summer league rookie chucker. Could he play in the NBA like that? Of course not. Could he learn to control his game by playing in the G-League? None of us has any idea. The game is too fast for him right now. Has the game ever slowed down for anyone between summer league and, say, the middle of the rookie season?
Nah, never happened.
He has size for a 2, athleticism and a shot. Better combination of the three than most second round shooting guards--and he didn't cost a pick. But he chucks. Not so terrible a starting place for an UDFA.
Meanwhile, Knox just looks huge out there relative to his talent. He's going to sky over small forwards, and run around and shoot over power forwards. Sorta like Melo spelled backwards. Most of the scouting reports on him were ridiculously wrong.
Kudos to the Knicks staff on both Knox and Robinson. Robinson signed a 4 year deal, last two of which are team option. The Knicks will still have him after he gets in shape and learns the game. He has the combination of speed, quickness and length that is needed in the current NBA.
haven't seen any of the games yet, but just watched the NBA TV Â
recap show with highlights and commentary. For what it's worth, the NBA TV talking heads are saying Knox has been the surprise star of the summer league so far.
Is a bad teammate and was not able to lead a very talented Arizona team. He has entitlement issues and is worse basketball player then he was early in his career.
I hope he turns it around, but likely it will be in the d league where he learns a role (he’s not THE guy) and some humility.
Fortunately he is on a two-way contract. Either he learns in the G League, or he fails. But the Knicks seem to have the kind of coaching staff now that can challenge him to adapt.

The fact that he can get buckets without shooting well is incredibly important. Rookies just don't do that. You can tell he has talent, and you can tell he was prepared to play pro ball because of UK coaching. He's ahead of the curve in the same ways Porzingis was as a rookie.
He was much more aggressive than what we have typically seen from him. He was consistently trying to get into the lane to try to create a shot for himself, or to dish to the open man underneath when he drew a help defender. I liked that he showed multiple means of attack whether it be just a straight drive to the rim, drive with a stop and fadeaway, and he even posted up the opposing PG at one point which could be a nice weapon for him due to his height.
The other thing that I noticed is that is handle seems much improved. Throughout his rookie year he seemed to get flustered when the opposing team would pressure him as he brought the ball up. He would immediately either turn his back to the defender, or look to pass immediately. Last night he looked much more comfortable to continue bringing the ball up court and work his way past the defender.
Yea Frank definitely looked just about the best I've ever seen of him Â
last night. Knox really is blowing away the "experts" watching the league. I think most are surprised by his versatility and how good his handle is. He has shot well at all either which we know he can do. Not that these are like NBA games, but they do keep score and the players seem invested in winning so its also impressive to see Knox wanting the ball at the end of these games. Will be interesting to see what they do with Robinson this year. Do they send him back and forth to the G-league to get him big time minutes? Or maybe Fiz wants to work more closely with him practicing every day and tries to work him in there 10-15 minutes a night. Either way the kid really has potential.

I'd prefer him on the Knicks conditioning with the team, getting to know his teammates, learning from Fiz, and getting some minutes every game. That said, I won't throw a tantrum if he starts in Westchester.

I have a feeling he starts in Westchester just to get him used to playing regular minutes night to night again. Then later in the year they'll bring him up to get minutes at the NBA level once he's in a routine.
I did see some laziness on defense, but he def looks like he belongs. He reminds me a bit of Giannis with his length(I know he's a little shorter at this point, but he can still grow), ability to get to the rim and athleticism. We can only pray that he develops into half of Giannis, but the potential is certainly there.

he is coming in though with a better jumper which is even more scary..
i dont think he will be the defender giannis is though...

Time will tell, but I think it's something the coaches will have to beat into his head. A lot of defense is desire and effort. There was a bunch of times last night where Knox didn't show desire or effort on defense. He's got the length to be a force on defense, but the staff will have to get him to want it.
that Knox, as a very young, highly athletic 3/4 focused on learning his offensive game first. I think he has the potential to be an excellent rebounder/defender as well. It's just going to take longer, as one would expect it to. He hasn't been coached up to defend in the pro game as yet, and he need to add strength, which he clearly will.
I even wonder if he will continue to get taller. Frank is 13 months older and he just added an inch.

Trier doesn't have very good size at all. He looks short out there and has Justin Pugh arms compared to Frank, Knox and Robinson. He's a crafty scorer and a ball hog and not very good defensively at all.
will hide for the first 3 quarters, he will make a player here and there but he doesnt lock in defensively until the 4th quarter
Trust me, I understand all of this. My concern, which is so minimal after 2 summer league games, is a desire issue. He very clearly did not want to help out on a few drives to the basket. There were a few drives that he could have easily stepped in front of, but made a decision to allow an uncontested layup.
Again though, its not something worth harping on after 2 summer league games, just somethign that I noticed on a few occassions.
I’m not impressed at all with Trier, he seems like a ball hog.
Knox shots are all on though. I've seen a few the last two days hit two rims. Obviously in is better but his shot isn't far off

Agree
Dotson was terrible. I was hoping for more out of him.
everytime the ball went into his hands he refused to pass...
Mitchell Robinson is just oozing with potential. He's fouling a lot because of his rust and his conditioning but when he gets stronger and better conditioned, he's going to be incredible to watch.

And for the love of God, stop with iso Trier.

“He’s f—ing really good,” an anonymous NBA executive told The Athletic’s Mike Vorkunov on Saturday. “A real stud.”

it is hard to have a go to scorer be great on both ends
