and Game of Thrones and post-medieval British History, the series by Bernard Cornwell called "the Saxon Tales" or sometimes called "The Last Kingdom" series are absolutely riveting.

They are historical fiction, which I like and in each book the author takes the time to explain what's fiction and what is embellished or made up (in the epilogue).
An 11th book is coming out this year, but I read the first 10 in a few months.
by Rob Chernow, and I'm really enjoying it. I just finished the Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. Of all the books in that vein I have read recently it was one of the more enjoyable.
