The only reason Danny Valencia is in the Majors is because he can/always could hit left-handed pitching. If he was going to use Holder anyway, might as well put him in the game with the damn lead. Letting CC stay in the game made no sense.
This team is not very good right, and unfortunately Sox will probably win the division again. Aside of Severino, they just don't have enough consistent pitchers.
Boone was overthinking it because he wanted to have as much BP ammo as possible for game 2 with Cessa pitching. Should have gone to Holder, no doubt. Got greedy and thought he could get away with it and it bit him in the ass.
At least theres another game coming right up to hopefully wipe the bad taste out from this one. Have to win.
Like CC was out of gas in the 6th, and Boone should've pulled him after the lead off guy reaches. I think he was hoping to get one more inning from CC while looking towards the 2nd game.
Problem is you have a shot to win this game you go for it IMO. I'll worry about game two when I have to.
This game had a bit of a Philly game three feel to it for me when I saw the lineup. Trying to steal one while looking ahead. I don't like that approach and prefer to go for the win that's right in front of me now. You get the first game and keep them down making getting the second a bit easier,IMO.

I still think Drury should be up over Walker - Walker's leash is baffling. Drury is really a 2B more than anything else, so it's not like that's whats keeping Walker up instead.
Definitely thought he would but I'm glad to see he did. If he could only get some more hits, I think he's got a good shot at sticking and making the post season roster too.
