Going down to visit friends for a long weekend next weekend.
I have never been. Aside from the beach obviously, anything we should definitely do/see? What about places to eat? We will have out 1 year old with us.
If you like crabs, the Rustic Inn off Anglers Avenue is fun.
Go to Hollywood and walk the boardwalk by the beach.
Take a trip to Southbeach, good sightseeing!
Out west on Broward Blvd are 2 (really 3) good golf courses:
Plantation Preserve and Jacaranda (2 courses).
For food, on the mall on Sunrise off A1A has nice options.
gulfstream, sawgrass mills, aventura mall if shopping is your thing, las olas is great. beaches obv, but you can do beaches anywhere sofla is great dont waste your time on a beach. hard rock in hollywood is awesome (and will soon be 50x more awesome). you can take a cruise and see all the billionaires (with a b) mansions on the intercoastal theres tons.
lincoln rd in miami is great. marlins park isnt going to blow your mind like fenway or wrigley, but still a decent place to watch a ballgame, depending whos in town.
as soon as the wife retires and im gonna finagle my practice to be there 4 months out of the year. another 20 years to go though :)
Ok. If you’re up for a drive there’s a butterfly park a bit north. I think it’s in Palm Beach County; perhaps the Boca area. Someone from FLA can fill you in on the exact location.

my daughters loved butterfly world. Lauderdale By the Sea is a nice place for ice cream and for a couple bucks there's a pier you can walk out on (kills some time)
There are a few including in Fort Lauderdale but the one I’m recommending is in Dania Beach which is something like 2 minutes away. This restaurant in on a pier and has beautiful views of the ocean and you can watch the cruise ships leaving Fort Lauderdale. Food is not fancy, burgers, salads- you can google the menu and great place for drinks or beer. There’s a huge metered parking lot also. Not pricey at all and watch the ocean and the people
My kids used to love this place. Drive through safari in the A/C of you car. It’s hot down here now. If I recall correct they have a few rides and mini water park. Link - ( New Window )
