Especially the Gorge, a little like Mexico's Barranqua del Cobre, though not as deep. The south coast with many beach towns now mostly reduced to crowded resort fare, e.g., Aghia Gallini, try to find some out of the way. Mountains in the interior are lovely and less crowded as tourists head to the shore.
On the south coast. It was dry as a bone there. Almost no vegetation. Cucumbers and tomatoes served at every meal. Best thing I did ther.... rented mopeds for a day with wife.... and we made our own tour of the place.... Laws are a little loose there.... people celebrating at an outdoor bar, Late night.... Suddenly the owner comes out and starts firing a pistol in the air in celebration. Scared the shit out of me.
