Hello fellow BBIers. I was wondering if anyone here has had any success with taking CBD oil to help with their anxiety (or any of the other numerous benefits its supposed to have).
Ive been on Buspar for anxiety and just started taking ashwagandha as well as NOC (too soon to tell if either is helping).
Im looking at a few vendors online and there are so many different options, mg, etc. Was thinking of starting at the lowest dose around 750mg/15 ml. Was also told vaping it is the most effective way to do it.
Any help is appreciated. Go Giants!
The problem is that it's not really regulated and it's easy to shop around online and wind up buying something that is pure trash. Hemp oil seems to be less effective, though more widely available.
I'd definitely do some research before making any purchases to make sure the distributor is reputable and that you're getting what you pay for.
Another word of caution, a lot of vape oils contain propene glycol. You'll want to get one that doesn't if you're going that route.

Thank you and yes I can see what you mean. Just a basic search comes up with hundreds of results including some shady websites that look like a 4 year old designed. I've found one called Lazarus Naturals that has lots of positive reviews and seems like the best bang for your buck. Still a lot of variables to consider.
Def worth the $200 a year.
Those damn homo-sapiens from 9000 years ago!
Funny, that used to be my route. Now I cope without drugs or alcohol. I'm sure baadbill will be in here soon enough to say I shouldn't be using CBD! And that it's going to be the next thing society relies on to enjoy itself and socialize.

First, I highly recommend going the CBD route as it does help a lot, flower is pretty obvious but you go with edibles you're going to want to try a few things to find what works best for you as your body chemistry really determines what will be most effective for you. I live in Portland, Oregon so it's very easy for me to walk down the street any direction and get something. I've been told that if you're taking CBD edibles with no THC that smoking a little along with it helps 'activate' the CBD but I'm not sure if it's really true or not.
A couple things I've been introduced to lately are RSO and FECO oils (the FECO process is more 'pure' and gets more from the plant). Both are very potent and work well for me. I've been preferring the FECO more-so, I have one by Fairwinds that's a 10:1 ratio of CBD to THC and has a 'one-click' feature so that you get exactly one portion every time and comes in Sativa and Indica. There isn't enough THC in it that you'll feel anything but it definitely calms me down, and it also greatly helped with pain when I got a tooth pulled a couple weeks back.
Now some things that aren't cannabis related that work really well for me. Magnesium is a natural anti-anxiety. I recommend getting magnesium power, my favorite is Natural Calm by Natural Vitality (the one that has rasberry-lemon) that you can get on Amazon. You can mix in with water or tea and it tastes pretty good. I also put it in a Kava tea made by Yogi called Stress Relief and have it before bed. The two combined helps me a deep sleep like nothing else.
And someone mentioned Kava already, aside from the Kava tea I have, I haven't actually tried real Kava yet but I ordered a sample pack from a website that should hopefully come sometime this week. If you read anything about it being bad for you liver, those are mostly false reports, there's a World Health Organization report you can easily find that states they found no conclusion evidence of Kava being hepatotoxic.
My last recommendation to check out is Kratom. I've only had it a couple times when a friend offered while camping but I had a few drinks prior which I believe reduces the effectiveness of it. I feel like I need to try it again without any alcohol in my system but I felt the effects a little the first time I had it. It does taste like grass though.
Anybody in the same situation?
Jigsaw Magnesium is the best one I've found - I take that daily and it works really well.
Obviously magnesium on its own isn't going to completely alleviate anxiety, but it does help relax you a bit. It's especially helpful if you have RLS and have trouble sleeping because of it - which I do

This is all very helpful, thanks! I'm going to stop at Walmart tonight to grab some Magnesium and that tea. My stress/anxiety comes mostly in the day though so I'm looking for something that helps at work but doesn't make me sleepy or groggy.
Just looked them up, they get outstanding reviews and it's very reasonably priced. Looks legit and high quality too. Much appreciated.

Is this documented anywhere in a reputable journal FM? I might be able to convince them to let me drink at work ... High stress job.
Air traffic controller.
I can't verify their competency, but hey - it is being written about - thus it is definitely true!!
Drink up my friend
I bought some instant Kava from Kava Kalm for my son - he didn't care for it, but I mixed some in some chocolate milk and I really liked how it felt.
Sort of a euphoric calming feeling, if that makes any sense.

used CBD and it seems to have some effect (placebo?), anyone ever try this stuff Kava? There is a bar in the city that serves it and some people seem so into it.

Thanks. I was curious but the place by me had horrendous reviews for things unrelated to the actual Kava.

Arc ... I read an article about magnesium and anxiety so being the anxious person that I am I ordered some and tried it. It definate relaxes me but, it seems to make me to drowsy at times. The stuff I have is a combo - Taurate, Glycinate, and Malate.
Any drowsiness from what you take? Also, how did you determine what your personal dose is ... just follow the directions for the dose?
Thanks in advance ... I will try the Jig Saw.
My daughter uses it for migraines.

I am pretty sure you can buy Kava in any health food store ... I know Whole Foods has it.
2.) buy AMERICAN MADE oil. From Colorado , Or California preferably.
China sells tons of cbd oil and I'm pretty sure it's not even half as good quality.
Good luck.
LOL yeah that's the last thing I'm going to do before I see what kind of effect a low dose has. Not to mention the price skyrockets as the concentration goes up.
Yes, I take the sustained release magnesium malate that Jigsaw makes. I just follow the suggested dose. I take 2 in the morning and 2 later in the day.
I haven't noticed any marked drowsiness from it, personally. I realized that I was probably even slightly deficient diet-wise. A lot of people actually are and don't know it.
I'd suggest maybe just starting with half the recommended dose at first and then scaling up - but it shouldn't cause any noticeable side effects or make you drowsy. It's perfectly safe to take daily - I feel confident that you won't have any problems.
Lastly, Bold Ruler mentioned Claire Weekes and I have to second that for anyone struggling with anxiety of any kind.
I read her book on Agoraphobia a few years ago when I was struggling badly and it made a major difference in my life. She doesn't push pills, drugs, or anything other than changing your approach at the onset of anxiety/agoraphobia/panic episodes and her coping strategy is extremely effective if you're really willing to work on it.
It's basic, simple, and can really make a difference.
We have a tendency to tense up when we get anxious. I remember when I used to get bad, I would clench my teeth, make fists, pace, my breathing would become quick/staggered/short, I'd hunch over a bit, etc. It sounds elementary, but the second you just stand or sit up straight, control your breathing, and relax your body, the anxiety almost automatically starts to vanish.
Best of luck, fellas. This is a subject I know a lot about from many years of personal struggles - so I feel for anyone dealing with the same thing.
Super high doses of CBD can actually start to have reverse effects according to some studies. There's no reason to seek out the highest concentrations or highest doses.
When it comes to CBD, less is often more. Start small and gradually work your way up a bit. You really shouldn't need to take that much. Sometimes as little as 3-5 mg is all you need.

Stand straight, breathe well, relax the body. Great reminders.

CBD won't show up on a drug test since it's only looking for THC, but there are plenty of products that are CBD only with no THC (as others have mentioned, definitely only go with reputable brands made in America).
I also wouldn't recommend using alcohol for stress relief, it's only temporary and it being a depressant and damaging to the body it only causes more harm in the long-term. Definitely the last thing you want to become dependent on for something like this. But also I agree with that going to therapy can be helpful for sure, especially if you're taking prescription meds, you don't want to be dependent on prescription meds solely long-term either.

Great stuff arc thanks. It certainly is a struggle, especially when you cant pinpoint triggers to prevent future attacks. Sometimes its just so random and unprovoked. Ill certainly check out Claire Weekes 👍💪👌

It's frustrating, man. I know it. I had so many points where I was just ready to throw up my arms and say "I give up" because I just couldn't figure it out. I'd feel great one day, and then out of nowhere I'd have a full blown panic attack the next.
The harder I fought against it, the worse it got. I started living my life in a way where I let it control me. Everything I did was with anxiety in mind. I'd constantly ask myself questions like "if I go here, will I feel worse?" or "what if I have a panic attack and embarrass myself?" - I'd mentally check-in with myself non stop. "How do I feel now?" "Hm, that twinge felt weird, I hope I'm not going to start getting anxious now.."
And it's just a perpetual cycle that does nothing but exacerbate the issue. It's like when you tell someone... "whatever you do, do NOT picture an elephant right now"
Naturally, it's almost impossible not to picture an elephant.
The other analogy I always felt was apt was the one about trying to swim against the current when you're in the ocean, or getting caught in a rip tide. The harder you try to swim against it, the more exhausting it is, and you don't go anywhere or help yourself.
It's hard to do, but the best thing you can practice is simply letting go when you get anxious and find a way to just loosen yourself up and float. It's almost like a trust fall with yourself - you don't want to do it because you think as soon as you "let go," something terrible might happen or you'll lose control. But the truth is that we really only make anxiety worse when we constantly try to control it.
Claire Weekes' literature is actually pretty old. It was written decades ago, so some of the language is dated - but the basic principles still hold lots of water today and really do help.
Best of luck!
The next one occurred in my mid-twenties and there was no doubt what I was going through then. I was probably already depressed but, that attack seemed like it was the beginning/starting point of a deep depression the lasted for about 18 months.
Like I said it has been on and off and unless you actually experience depression I don't think people (even family and friends) can really understand or empathize with what you are going through (it is my theory that - that is why most people suffer in silence - not so much because they feel ashamed. But, shame is also involved certainly).
Anyway, Thanks again. There is a lot of information here and all of it will be explored and investigated by me - a person who has not had a lot of success with the prescription medications that are on the market today so any information (especially from like people who have tried it themselves) is very valuable to me. "60 minutes" did an update on Electro Shock Therapy recently and how far it has come today (The days of R.P. McMurphy getting strapped down on a bed with no anesthesia are long gone). I have to admit, I was thinking about - Kitty Dukakis swears by it : )
Anyway, Thank-you all so much!
Something i've experimented with recently is Kratom. I purchase mine off of a site called www.kratomherbs.com. I really like Ultra Enhanced Indo (UEI) which you can buy in capsule form. I also like their "FST" Tincture, which is a liquid just like CBD oil.
Kratom does have some side effects (like anything), but that are much less severe compared to a lot of other things doctors prescribe.
There is only one medically accepted treatment for anxiety, which is some combination of medication and cognitive behavior therapy. If you don't want therapy you need more meds. If you don't want meds you need to really go intense on the CBT.
Self medicating with weed and booze and even using weed as a tool when supervised by a doctor is a disaster waiting to happen. It doesn't treat the chemical imbalance which causes anxiety issues in any way.
Go see a psychiatrist AND a therapist and figure out a strict plan of attack.

"If you don't want therapy, you need more meds"
You show up claiming there's lots of "BAD" info on this thread, and then drop a giant turd like that which is just as bad as anything else. That's not how it works. You don't just pump someone up with more meds if they're resistant to therapy, and it's not always necessary to see both a psychiatrist and therapist, either. It depends on the person and what they're dealing with. No one case is the same and the best course of action for one person may not be for another.
Anxiety is not necessarily caused by a chemical imbalance, either. More bad info from you. There are several potential causes/triggers/things that cause anxiety in people, and it's absolutely not always a chemical imbalance issue. It's important to determine the cause first.
Further, no one on this thread is suggesting that weed and booze are good methods of coping, either. Literally not one person has suggested or endorsed doing that. So, I have no idea where any of that is coming from.

The only bad info in this thread is what you just posted. Kindly refrain from commenting any further. You are way off base and clearly have no knowledge of the subject. Thanks and bye 👋
