Supplemental history, if I have this right-
CRinCA : 7/11/2018 8:03 pm : link
Dave Brown
Tito Wooten
Sam Beal

Hopefully he'll be the best of the bunch at minimum. Stating the obvious.

Third time is the Charm CR ; )
So the guys that were in the supplemental draft,

were not eligible for the regular draft?
I was wondering why he was not eligible for the 2018 draft
short lease : 7/11/2018 8:44 pm : link

and if was anything to be concerned about or if he had any "red flags" so I went a googling ...

Found this -

"Beal says he had fallen behind in academic credit hours but planned to catch back up in summer school: "So I was back in school, but the NCAA had to actually tell me if I was able to play."

With his eligibility not expected to be decided until the end of preseason camp, Beal decided to forgo his senior season and declare for the supplemental draft. He said he could have gone through "the whole camp and the whole process and [the NCAA] could have told me, 'You're not going to play.'"

Unlike most supplemental draft prospects of the last decade, Beal doesn't come with red flags off the field. There are no reported failed drug tests. There are no coaches throwing him under the bus as a bad teammate. Instead, a college kid got behind on some credits and was in danger of losing his eligibility. And now NFL teams are ready to jump on this rare opportunity.

Not only are there no red flags - it seems like all blue ribbons. He wanted to stay in school so he could graduate from college (first in Family).

This maybe by old news but, I did not know anything about his background.

Doom - that is what I was wondering "Not eligible and why not?"- see my previous post.
If I remember right, Tito Wooten was a pretty darn good player too...

They consider this guy one of the better selections in a Supplemental Draft and that includes Josh Gordon. One knock I can see is that he drops way too many interceptions. He, like Apple, seemed to get himself in good position only to have the ball slip out of his hands.

He should get opportunities this year and will be depth. Good year to gain experience and NFL strength.

They were eligible, but decided to stay in school for another year. Then, something happens (i.e., they get kicked out or see situation above for Beal, so they enter the supplemental draft.
Western Michigan was really good in 2016

They went 13-0 and went to the Cotton Bowl, where they played Wisconsin tough. So he's from a smaller program, but a really good smaller program.
From his highlights ...

He seems to be the Anti-Eli Apple to me.

I don't see him grabbing the receivers like Apple did. He is very smooth in all his movements and shows excellent "football in the air" sense.

I think Tito gets more criticism than he deserves sometimes ... but, don't forget. His nickname was "toast" (because he got burnt a lot), and I believe Parcells gave him that nick name.
