He was kicked off the Virginia Tech team due to Acedmic ineligibility. 3 year starter in hybrid Nickel/LB role.
He was the highest rated nickel corner in 2016 according to PFF. Last year he missed sometime due to injury.
Not sure what the rules are, since he missed the supplemental draft, since he was just released from the team this week. Wouldn’t mind him coming into camp and trying to win a spot.
While Adonis Alexander or Brandon Facyson or Greg Stroman may get the most notoriety in that Hokie secondary, Reynolds has quietly been a force against the run, hauling in nine run stops – the most of any Power-5 cornerback through five weeks. His 7.0 run stop percentage ranks him just above Reed at third overall among the same group of Power-5 cornerbacks. If Reynolds can improve on his tackling (five missed tackles in run defense alone), his ability in the slot will continue to be crucial for the Virginia Tech secondary, and get his name passed around NFL draft war rooms.
Greg, I want whats best for the Giants. If Mook can be picked up as a Street FA, probably on the cheap, and win a roster spot, why wouldn't you want that?
I could care less if we had UVA Football players on the team. If they are good enough to win a position, I am going to root for them.
In fairness, JR most likely looked at everybody. That he didn’t deem it necessary to pull the trigger at times, is another thing..
If that wasn't the case then any player who gets kicked off of any team could just sign with an NFL team at any time. Don't think it works that way.

Should have read "draft OR the supplemental draft".

So..you do care?
Yes, it's his brother.
He got behind in school very early in his career and he actually got back in good academic standing, but I think he fell behind again and they just let him go. I am trying to find the full story from the Tech board I visit.
He didn't do anything wrong besides have bad grade in school. I don't know how you implied anything else.

But it would seem that a college player would either have to go through the draft of the supplemental draft.

You are correct. I don't think that he is allowed to sign with an NFL team. Had he entered the supplemental draft and gone undrafted then he would be a free agent free to sign with any team but since he did not enter he is not a free agent.
He's as smart as you are - ( New Window )
