In today's unsurprising news, noted douche John Schnatter has resigned from his company, the Louisville Board of Trustees, and who knows, perhaps even his homeowners association.
From Deadspin: "In June’s conference call, Papa was asked “how he would distance himself from racist groups online.” (Normal question to ask a pizza man.) Papa replied by complaining that “Colonel Sanders called blacks n——-s”—no one is quite sure where he got this from—and KFC never got in trouble. He also noted, for some reason, that where he grew up people used to kill black people by dragging them behind trucks. (Normal answer from the pizza man.)"
I know he inexplicably has fans here, so I look forward to their impassioned defense.

I see what you did there.
Although 10 years ago, for Pizza offerings, we just had Papa John's, Domino's, Pizza Hut and Little Caesar.
From those limited crappy chains, we liked Papa John's the best. Although with better pizza options, luckily we haven't had it for over several years now.
And perhaps they would be right too. Saying the N-word does not make you a racist....context does. But we are too wound up in short soundbites to take a slightly deeper look. Unable to think for ourselves and understand the points of view that others bring to the table.

Don't make it sound like he was just saying the n-word in some sort of detached academic sense. He was in a corporate meeting about media relations training, and his response to a pertinent question about how to distance himself/the company from racial animus online was to essentially say - Hey, Colonel Sanders called people n*****s and no one gives KFC any backlash. What's the problem?
Then he doubled down on the stupidity and related an anecdote about how black people used to get lynched in his hometown.
So what exactly is the point of view being displayed here? What context are we missing?
So by this logic, McDonald's is great food and Wal Mart is the best place to buy everything??
Popularity doesn't necessarily make something good.

Very interesting and amazing numbers for a pizza that many consider "terrible"

Well if you are from any place not named New York or Chicago or within their suburban areas, you probably think Pizza Hut or Papa Johns is good pizza.
The pizza chain endorsed by David Duke.
If I repeat that quote, am I racist?
Don't get cute. You can quote something racist, and if you support it, that's bad, but if you repudiate it, that's good.

Eff you ass cheese! Im orig from suburban Jersey and we have epcot pizza!
Another keyboard tough guy with the intelligence of a salad bar.
If I want to say something at least I'm man enough to say it, I'm not passive aggressive about it like you are.
I'm not going to engage in any further conversation with you on here, just not worth my time.

Exactly. Look at Justin Beiber and Drake.
Oh well. Not sure why he had to sully the good name of Harlan Sanders while he was at it.

WTF does that mean? Epcot Pizza?
"You" was the nebulus you, not you FMiC. I standby my statement - if you (meaning peoples) are not from the New York or Chicago areas, you (meaning those people not from those areas) think franchise pizza places are good. Since most of us on BBI are from the NYC area we don't understand why people love places like Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Little Caesars or Dominos....
give interviews/earning calls, etc ... while they are drunk.
Seriously - Is he crazy?! Even if you are a racist, or a Democrat, or a Republican, or homophobic, or pro-life, or pro-choice, or whatever - you never reveal anything that could alienate the customer.
Why even use those words? .... and what kind of answer was that to the question presented?
Sometimes I wonder - if you are a workaholic and catch a few lucky breaks .... do you need any brains at all (besides the minimum functioning average IQ) to succeed in business?
I am not saying all successful people are morons without ethics (far from it) ... but, sometimes you wonder about some folks and how they achieved all that they have being blatantly stupid .... or lacking common sense maybe a better description?
And go down in others ... ?
Exactly. I pretty much figured he meant epic, but he needs balls busted for that and for a Jersey guy not knowing that NJ is suburban NYC and that is where I'm from too.

And yes, I swapped out epic for epcot to try and be cute. Guess that was a fail. A NEBULOUS attempt at humor.
Fake news.
Not the official Pap John’s smoke swastika.

Sounds like a bunch of epcot humour failures....
there are papa johns and dominos and both seem to be thriving
why in the world would you choose papa johns or dominos in downtown Manhattan where there a ton of decent local NY pizza joints that are a million times better ?
Poor effort. Grade: D

Unless they are from NY.
F***ing pineapples in your pizza.

Tourists and cost. I live in Brooklyn, I'm surrounded by excellent pizza, and both of those places are here too. Thing is, you can get 3 of those shitty pizzas for the price of one pie at a legit pizzeria, and some people would rather save the extra money.
I'd start eating cat food out of the can first.

Excuse me? And you are.
New York city is just overrated in general. There is nothing about it I find useful.

Dry cat food out of the bag is vastly superior.
