above position coach. What does he think he has to gain by burying former players? Every word out of his mouth makes you wonder how the Sons of Wellington could be such idiots to hire him in to begin with.
None of it was my fault, they're now doing everything they should have did when I was there and doing everything I told them to do. Also he shit all over a bunch of players, even coming right out and saying "I don't think he's a very good player", in reference to Solder.
Now I'm no expert but I think it is safe to assume that this would not be the best way of trying to get yourself back into the good graces of the league.
Flowers, Richburg, Pugh and Solder. He doesn't believe in Brett Jones. He didn't remember Halapio's name, who started six games last year. He torched Philly, Dallas, and Washington.
Is it me or does McAdoo just come across as unintelligent? Why on earth would he take shots at former players? He isn't going benefit at all from doing so. He basically deflected blame for last season on the players which again is another terrible decision.
How the hell did this guy get hired in the first place? I can't imagine this guy wowing anyone in a meeting. These comments once again remind me how lucky we are to have Shurmur.
Is the 2018 McAdoo-ese version of “protect the duke”
Interesting that he thinks Flowers will be a bust at right tackle and that Solder will help but is not a very good player and Giants overpaid in desperation. Also some not so thinly veiled pot shots at Richburg Pugh and JPP. Clearly the chef didn’t approve of his ingredients!
The only reason I even contemplated reading anything that McAdoo Â

Better question, who didn't this guy rip apart?
he did approve of Gettleman’s moves particularly taking Barkley & passing on the QBs and he thinks the Giants will win the division
Likely spots - Hammock Beach area, Ormond Beach area, or even an outside shot of Palm Coast. With the money he is being paid and looking for the community security/privacy, I would guess he is staying in Hammock Beach.
I'll have to make an effort to stalk the area so if I run in to him, I can punch him the dick.

That was both surprising and maybe a little weird? Mcadoo completely agreed with every move the giants made... ok... then he completely undresses various players.... lol ok. Fascinating really. Oh and he supports going with Eli???Dude you benched him for GENO SMITH.

We need to check him for CTE. I am flabbergasted at what I just read. He said Solder is not a good player but obviously he agrees with the fact he is better than Flowers. Then he rips Flowers but yet he always had him at LT and never made him earn the spot. WTF is going on. This guy is all over the place. He says Flowers will have the same issues on the right side but at least Eli can see it coming now. What, it only took you 4 fucking years to figure that out?
I think he was knocking Reese more than anyone else. With Flowers, I think he felt he had no choice but to start him which is also a Reese criticism
Pugh was a much better LT than Flowers but never gave him a chance because of his stupid theory that if Eli has protection up the middle the outside doesn't matter because the ball should be out before an edge rusher can get there. I agree. He is definitely throwing blame everywhere but himself. How was this guy ever the HC of the New York Fuckin' Giants? IMO, he is the worst coach in the history of this franchise. People would always write R-- H------ for he who shall not be named. Well, McAdoo has surpassed him imo. Fuckin' clown and doesn't understand how to lead men. Any good leader accepts all the blame and deflects all the praise.
I believe that's what Jerry Reese said about Ben McAdoo. I guess Ben was Jerry's 3rd choice for the HC job, for we all know how bad Jerry's 3rd rd picks were.
I don’t understand why any fan would not enjoy that.
Right or wrong he was the head coach and just gave us a lot of color/views
EXACTLY!
And I am worried again with Flowers. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not the guy knows the sport and he was just very candid about the team he had and some of the guys left on the roster.

I'm with hitdog, take a look at the quotes regarding the OL:
"They let the right guys leave"
"They needed help in that room in the past and they haven’t had anyone to do that."
The OL was the cancer from the beginning and stayed that way. Bad picks, mediocre play, no leadership. Nobody's absolving McAdoo, but the GM was supposed to fix the line and instead did NOTHING.
Don't think this does anything for the next phase of his coaching career but hey it's not my life.
Hot take - I think he would make a great analyst. Whether it's his on-the-spectrum like inability to read a room or outright obstinance in his personality, the guy doesn't pull punches. His biggest weakness as a coach may serve him as an analyst.
was happy to see Solder go. He says he always gave up pressure . I agree with McAdoo in letting Pugh and Richburg go who both got overpaid. Ridiculous he couldn't remember Halapio. Some good some bad can't wait for Camp to begin and see Barkley play.
very candid. I don't see any problem with it. Even thought McAdoo failed, I wouldn't discount his opinions. Anyone who knows anything about football would agree that Flowers isn't a very good pass blocker, so what's wrong with confirming it.
(being paid by the Giants) in 2018 & plans to get his resume out to coach again in 2018. The question is,where? Certainly it was an interesting article from our last HC as he threw former players, new players,Giants management & other teams under the bus. However,if I'm an NFL team, I read this article & question if I want a guy who airs dirty laundry in the press to represent my team. After reading this article from an obviously immature & ill prepared coach (I think we all had an inkling when he showed up at his PC looking like a kid wearing his father's jacket but we hoped we were wrong),I'm very happy we now have an HC/GM who conduct themselves the way representatives of a pro football team should. Good riddance to a coach who will never go into the ring of honor but will forever be part of a Giants coaching fraternity that belong to a ring of shame!
I want him to do a Hanley ... go away and never be heard from again. He was an embarrassment as a head coach and cost me a year of football. Don’t go away mad, just go away.
when he says Flowers cannot play left tackle and yet he played the guy at that position.
So, this means one of two things...
1. McAdoo really is an idiot
OR
2. McAdoo was told he must play the #1 draft pick even if it was to the detriment of the team and even if it put our QB at risk.
It isn't that there are no coaches capable of teaching how to bend, but rather the student willing to accept those teachings. We churned through respectable OL coaches. At some point you have to look at the common denominator and conclude that it might not be the coach, but rather the player.

What were his other options at LT? There was absolutely no depth. It wasn't like you could put Pugh there, guy can't stay on the field.

I also came away from that article wondering just how much input he had in who was going to start and who wasn't. If he didn't believe in these guys, why on Earth did he play them...and did he lobby to have them replaced and was denied?
That said, thank God this guy is gone.

Yes along with Halapio, Flowers, and Jones.

Yup it sure was an interesting read. Surprisingly candid. Washington is Washington. Lulz

Yeah that interview really is amazing.
Really wondering if that was a misprint...

Don't think this does anything for the next phase of his coaching career but hey it's not my life.
—Solder is not a good LT but will help in the Locker room with OL
—Flowers won’t be any good at RT because he can’t bend
—Center is going to be a problem because Eli can’t take pressure up the middle. Halapio sucks
—Barkley was a good choice. Having a guy who can take it to the house on any carry really helps
—None of the QBs last draft were particularly worth taking at #2
—Hinted that dissension on the OL was a problem and letting Pugh and Richburg walk was the right move
There were plenty of folks on bbi that noticed the season was smoke and mirrors. Spags deserves all the credit for that season.
This interview was candid and insightful, something different from the norm for coach speak.; gave me a different perspective on the guy.
A bit cioncerning were his comments about Flowers, but there are many here who have been saying the same thing.
Great question.
Who gives a flying fuck what this dumb ass has to say?
Solder IS mediocre/average. He is not very good. Just better than Flowers.
Flowers can't bend - we know that - means left tackle or right tackle he won't be good.
Richburg and Pugh - let the right guys go - sounds like 95% of BBI posts.
Eli doesn't do well with pressure up the middle - true and true for most QBs.
Almost everything he said could have been quoted from BBI and yet people crap on what he said.
Not a fan of his at all, but doesn't mean he can't self analyze.

Yep. I agree with the whole article. I don't think he crapped on anyone really. They were a bunch of low key statements.
Pugh, who couldn't stay healthy, was a great choice letting him walk.
Richburg, even when healthy, always got pushed back every play. Good thing we let him walk.
No QB plays well with pressure in his face, this is especially true of guys like Tom Brady! (See 2007 season)
Flowers sucks, and theDoo is right. At least Eli can see it coming now.
Reese was shit at rebuilding the team. Big deal.
Seriously, he said it like it really is. I'm with Ben all the way on this one. Everyone else hating in this thread can suck on it.
