Dallas: I think our defense can and will shut down there offense. We have very big bodies on our dline that can and has shown in the past the ability to shut down their powerful run game. Now that they have lost dez and witten, who both have killed us in the past, and have added a bunch of slot receivers, there offense scares me very little. On defense I think they are the one team in the division that could shut down our intermediate passing game. They have very good linebackers and a reasonably stout d-line, and young secondary. Our skill players are second to none, so I'm sure if our o-line holds up we can do damage, but I can see games where we go long stretches in games with only 1-3 first downs, bollowed by an explosive play, not consistent dominance.
Philly: We have proven that we can score on these guys. There linebackers are weaker with the loss of kendricks and I believe another player. There d-line is great, and I hope our revamped o-line can hold its own. The good thing about shurmer's offense is there is not a ton of 7 step drops, and I think our skill players can get open quickly against these guys, so I could see us playing well against them. There offense has always given us trouble. They retain a very good o-line and I don't know how much pass russ we can generate. A lot depends on our blitz packages and ability of corners to be sticky. They could do well attacking us down the middle of the field, exploiting people like goodson, vernon, thompson with players like Ertz, and their running backs.
Washington: There offense is pretty average across the board. Sort of a poor man's giants: eli& gt; smith; barkley& gt;guice; shepard& gt;crowder, obj& gt;doctson; engram& gt;reed, the players at there skill positions are actually quite similar. Just not as good. They do have a good o-line and that helps, but we have shown the ability to stop them. I do think there defense is ascending. They have a solid d-line and linebacking corps, and there corners are good as well. Will be interesting to see if the coaching can pull it all together.
I can see 2 wins vs. dallas, and splits against washington/philadelphia.
Thoughts?
Except, of course, we lose to Eagles a lot in dramatic fashions...
...and that won't change until we can start beating those bastards.
Right now, the Giants have put all their chips in to rebuilding this offense, and that will make and break us. If we can get a consistent run game, and sustain longer offensive drives I think like Dallas, it will help cover up some of the flaws we currently have there as a unit. This offense can't rely on the defense to go out and shut down opponents, and play conservative all game. Our offense needs to be aggressive, for us to be successful.
I can see us splitting the division 3-3. Washington has greatly and quietly improved their defense into maybe one of the better overall defenses in the division, Offense is rather blah. Eagles have secondary questions, but an elite pass rush, and best most balanced Offense in the division so far. Dallas' Def. always finds a way to play above their heads, and while their Offense lost two starters and got replaced with a bunch of question marks, they added even more talent to their O-line (Connor Williams), They will continue to run the ball down their opponents throats even with limited receiving threats.
We have two new systems being put in place on Offense and Defense, hard to say how we will match up until we see them in real game action. Right now I'd say we have to give the advantage to out opponents until we see how this team take on the new schemes.
Just thought I'd remind people of that.
I really think Dak Prescott is going to be in trouble without Dez Bryant and Jason Witten - unless Michael Gallop hits the ground running (this was Sy's highest rated WR in the draft). Their offense is going to be really one-dimensional this year.
Washington is the same middling team they always are. Nothing ever really changes with them.
The Eagles look even better than they did last season though. Adding Michael Bennett to the defensive line was a great move for them. And Mike Wallace is a nice deep threat for an offense that already has Ertz and Jeffery.
No one can ever predict how division games will go though.
So how does it stack up as a team against the Eagles, a team that just seems to have it's number? Not Favorably....
Alex Smith at QB for the Skins? Giants will have no problem with them....
Yes Dallas has a lot of new pieces....but I think they may surprise a lot of people....
This offense has to do a complete 180 of the last few seasons, and come flying out of the blocks for this team to have a shot at a wild card....and if the defense comes together as the season progresses, and can avoid the injury bug, like the offense must also do, then who knows?
Just thought I'd remind people of that.
And that's why they drafted Williams, Scarborough, Gallup:
Ground attack, after ground attack, then occasional pass.
Quote:
Allen Hurns is Dallas' #1 WR now.

If you think about it, that's saying our QB sucks.
Wouldn't be so confident of a 4-2 record.
The Skins lack star power on offense and defense so they’re out. The Cowboys don’t have a passing game. The Eagles are good but vulnerable in the secondary.
My guess is the Giants sweep Dallas/Wash and split with Philly.
Giants will set the record for points scored and the record for points allowed. Greatest team EVER! Giants are so great we will be talking about how boring the games are when the Giants are up 30-0 at half time every game.
Predictions:
Eli: 6000 yards passing, 60 TDs. MVP of the league
Odell: 2500 yards receiving
Saquon: 3000 yards combined rushing and receiving.
Vernon: 30 Sack season. I called it first dude. Defensive Player of the year.
Janoris: 15 interceptions.

this seems directionally correct...
I think, when it comes to starters, our offense is behind only Philly and not by much. Mainly cause Philly's OL seems better still and such. But hard to say until the games are played, of course.
I think the Dallas defense will struggle early so our getting them early is a good omen. They won't scare anyone throwing the ball. We can stop the run game but we'll struggle against passing teams like Philly.
Washington is a .500 team in my eyes.
Philly is the only team I say has a winning record FOR SURE unless of course injuries mount.
Hernandez must be a mauler as a rookie cause you need that BIG GUY for short yardage and goal line. He'll be next to veteran Solder so I expect him to do well but until the games are played, we of course won't know.
...and that won't change until we can start beating those bastards.
