LGM!
Yup.
This may not be the best comparison, but he kind of reminds me of Didi Gregorius - who was similarly super athletic, flashed plus skills but lacked polish. At premium positions those are the types of guys to just be patient with.
If they keep him they should definitely shut him down in August just to be safe.
Don't sleep on Gimenez.
Good things happen when they let Wilmer play.
Obviously you try to go for the best prospects available, but the preferred positions to target this deadline are SP, C, and 3B. I'd go for the highest upside prospects possible even if they are really young. Francisco Mejia seems to have gotten hot at AAA so that dream is probably dead, but he'd be a great addition.

hurt again?
Yup.
Finally, some good news
you know the bullpen sucks outside of familia and he isnt pitching for several days with all star break and wheeler not expected to pitch the series vs yankees

7-1 game in the 8th. Over 110 pitches. Was it really necessary to push Wheeler there. Ugh...

I agree if it were any other starter but I just feel with Wheeler pitching 80 innings in the last three years heading into this season we need to be a little careful with him. Everybody gets off for the break and the pen was fairly rested. Why push him in a blowout? Game wasn’t close at that point. Oh well.
its thor, matz then degrom

My Lord that was a bomb. Just absolutely turned on a 95MPH fastball.
Talk about inconsistent.
I had high hopes for Mickey this year but I'm just not seeing it anymore. If a new GM is brought in hopefully he can bring in a new manager. I would like to keep Eilland though.
Nimmo OF
Conforto OF
Rosario SS
McNeil 2B
Alonso 1B
Plawecki C
Most of those guys have the potential to be very good too. The upside for Alonso, especially, is tremendous.
I hope we can clear Bruce and Frazier and add a big bat to supplement all the kids.
Talk about inconsistent.

Lol, don’t you have ANYfaith in the bullpen lol
You had to have come up a catcher Shecky. You are obsessed with catching prospects.

in taking Oswalt out after 5 innings of 2 hit ball when he was around 50-ish pitches and absolutely dominating after the logic with pushing Wheeler yesterday?
Talk about inconsistent.

Some of the pieces I do. I like Lugo. But why pitch him only one inning when he is off until next Friday? Lugo could have gone 3-4 innings there. When they took Oswalt out I thought maybe they were going to piggy back them but nope... It just seems like there is no rhyme or reason to anything Mickey is doing.
Some tweets:
"The leaking about Terry Collins last year was disgraceful and reflected very poorly on the Mets and organization’s leadership. Could’ve had the same result without the fiasco. The way it was handled was undignified and Sandy’s statement about firing leakers was disingenuous."
"It’s hard for me to give a free pass to execs who essentially sell their integrity. To use the Reyes example, if you say things like it’s “based on merit” and “he has value,” you are either incompetent or are lying. Leaking that you were pressured is just admitting you sold out."
"There was a reason Nimmo’s name often came up in trade rumors. Other teams saw what the Mets were oblivious to. That should be cause for some serious introspection. It’s so important to get the evaluations of your own players right."
"Dom isn’t perfect, but the org has a weird way of setting young players up to fail, then deflects responsibility by blaming the players for not being good.
Hint: The whole point is to find and develop good players to win games. Period! When Dom fails, it’s an org failure."
"The @Mets handling of Jose Reyes this year is similar to young prospects from the Rule 5 draft that have never played above A-ball. You know it’s going to be ugly, and you jump through hoops to keep them on the roster for future upside. Just no future or upside in this case."

Have to play devils advocate here as much as it pains me. They aren’t the only franchise to do it, but they do outsource most of their analytics to about a half a dozen firms. So yeah, it’s bad. But it’s not as bad as it would appear based on that statement. Not defending, just expanding on it a bit.
Ugh...thanks for the feedback! Do you think blowing up the organization from executives to scouts to player development would change things or are things so dysfunctional at the ownership level that it won’t matter?
The lean analytics staff is definitely an issue and needs to be beefed up, but the first step needs to be to have a front office that buys into and will take the analytics department advice seriously.
On the awful Bruce and Vargas deals, the analytics department (as lean as they are) was right on it and cautioned Alderson against going ahead. Leanly staffed or not, we need a front office that isn't going to ignore advice like that.
At least for me it is tough to get a read on the home office talent and commitment from ownership.
