I feel bad for him. He should have been out of it. Should have been a very good start on the road against a very good team, lining up for a potential win... instead he leaves with the game tied.
That's a triple. Romine made it to 3rd without anyone committing an error to help him (unless there was an error in the outfield while fielding the ball)

The RF missed the ball on the ground.
Ah, no problem. I guess they ruled that an error too, would make sense
The walks are high but at the same time it shows something positive. He has always been a mental midget with runners on base. It totally threw him off his game. So, as awesome as those numbers have been the bigger thing to me is that having a runner on base is not bother him anymore which was really his biggest weakness to me.
we need the break. Hopefully healthy on the other side of the break. It will be very interesting over the next couple of weeks to the trade deadline. We know Cash will act.
Chapman’s been great so far this season. Even when he doesn’t have quite his best command like tonight, he knows how to suck it up and come up with big pitches when it counts.
Just peeked at his stat line, he’s only given up 6 runs all season. His only blown save was giving up a game tying run against Cleveland May 4, in a game the Yanks still won. Amazing.
I don’t get to watch a TON of non-NYY games, but I do have the MLB package (thanks TMobile!) and I own Skaggs in a dynasty fantasy baseball league, so I’ve watched a little of him.
I’ve been an advocate of making the really big splash for a deGrom/Syndergaard/MadBum. I still am. But it takes two to tango, and those names may simply not be available (for anything other than an embarrassment of riches).
I hate MOST of the discussed fallbacks (Happ, Hamels, et al). I’d really like either of these two LAA guys. They won’t be cheap, and they shouldn’t be.
He gave one back already.

Doesn't change my thinking or comfort level at all with him being the pitcher tonight following last night's loss.

I know, I just hate when that happens. Pet peeve of mine.
Shut down innings are big for me too, and kind of why I like CC after a loss. He's been a shut the losing down pitcher.
Half an inning about Clevinger's Moana cleats.
Another half inning about how Machado doesn't fit the Yanks and that they think he'll play 1B or DH. False.
Cone is too nice to make them realize how dumb that was.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing.
Judge shows plenty of emotion. He just doesn't show it when he does something. It's when his teammates do something that he lets loose.
As for Machado, they failed to mention how he would fit perfect really easy by just sending Andujar down to AAA if they wanted to make that deal.
I like it. Showing some fire while sticking up for his guys. I wish he'd show more of that.

Agree.
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out how the hell that happened?
Bird made a poor throw home. Romine did drop it but it didn't matter.
Damn right that was sweet. Yanks got a bounce to go their way!

Fanned Jose Ramirez looking with a curve
Blew away Encarnacion after falling behind 3-1 in the count
Dellin being Dellin. Filthy.

Those three hitters aren't scrubs, that's one of the best 2-3-4 trios in baseball he just buzzed through

Both lefty, both 27 years old, 2 and 3 arb years left, respectively. And both have good numbers and pretty nice peripherals.
Could be a decent fit. Keep in mind Angels GM Eppler came from the Yanks org.

Ballgame over Yankees win. Great job by the pen after that dodgy 6th inning.
I'd LOVE Skaggs in the Bronx. Would be the third or fourth starter in a playoff rotation and a strong one
Going into Sunday with a split being the downside is a job well done so far. But let’s take the damn thing.

You can never be sure.
The peripherals would seem to indicate it isn’t pure “luck”...his luck seems to be a bit of a push on balance; high BABIP but a very low HR/FB rate.
He’s probably not a 2-handle ERA guy for an extended stretch...few are. But he’s only 27, and low 3’s doesn’t seem out of reach.

Who is certainly having a nice little season, are we sure this isnt a fluke? I mean prior to this year his ERA hasnt dipped under 4.

Fair point. Just seems like an incredibly drastic drop in ERA from last year to this one.
