Looks like Sacramento is the only team with serious cap space left and assuming Smart, Capela and Hood will only be matched by their current teams unless it is an insane overpay, then Sac will most likely want to keep their cap space for 2019 given all of the expirings they currently have. OKC needs to get rid of Melo.
Knicks get: Carmelo Anthony, immediate buyout
OKC gets: Courtney Lee
Sac gets: Ron Baker expiring, Lance Thomas expiring ($1mm owed), OKC 2020 2nd rd pick and if necessary knicks 2019 2nd rd pick, which is Houston’s 2nd rd pick, max cash from knicks, which I believe is around & 4-$5mm.
Why for knicks? - very obvious you get rid of Lee’s contract next year, free up an extra $1mm from Lance buyout next year. Also opens up 3 roster spots
Why for Kings? They need to get to min salary cap requirements. They get a good vet in Thomas to work with young guys, Baker is obvious dump but at least he plays hard, they keep cap space intact for 2019 and they get 1 or 2 second round picks.
Why for OKC? They cut $15.4 from cap this year which is huge for tax savings dollars. They get lee who provides some depth and is a two way player at a needed position especially in the West. Also lee will be off the books after next year and is probably tradeable as an expiring contract whereas Melo stretch would still hold up $9.3 on cap in 2020 season.
Seems like a no brainer for all involved unless of course kings want to make a bad overpay to a restricted free agent like smart or hood.
However , after we got this athletic center in the 2nd round this last draft, makes me think we got a homer on him and should save ALL picks including 2s going forward unless the deals are very worth it.
This particular deal seems to be worth the risk of losing the 2nd rounder
Thus, Sacramento has no incoming young talent- though after years of lotto picks, have a good bit on hand. They now have Bagley, Fox, Jackson and Cauley-Stein on hand as their young talent base. They have some role players in Mason, Labissiere, Hield, and Bogdonavic.
Sacramento also has a HUGE amount of expiring contracts- lead by ZBO's $11.7M, Shumpert's $11M and Koufus's $8.74M deals.
Sacramento has indicated in the media that they believe it is time to stop rebuilding and actually begin to challenge in the West. When you look at the list above, you see a potential post scorer (Bagley) and PG (Fox) a slashing wing (Jackson) and a defensive big (Cauley-Stein). They need someone to hit 3's and who can give you 20+ a night from outside.
I think the better deal from the Knicks and Sacramento perspective might be to offer lee of OKC, take on Melo (and immediately waive him), offer Hardaway to Sacramento with Mudiay (for cap purposes) in exchange for ZBo.
I would suggest that the Knicks would waive or buyout both ZBo and Melo. That leaves them short-handed this season in terms of offense (losing Hardaway and Lee), but positions them very well for 2019.

I think their best young talent is actually Harry Giles if he can stay heslthy
In this case it wasn't.
I'm not trying to be funny. It's a hypothetical trade scenario made up from some random guy on the internet. Not trying to discredit you in anyway, but after watching Lance Thomas play basketball for the past 4 years and seeing his name and good vet in the same sentence, I stop reading.
Why would the Kings want him and Ron Baker? It's not happening. I stopped reading.
July 2018, huh?
GMEN46 and QUAN305.. smells like a dupe. lol
twolves only 60 percent...
vegas is usually very good with setting their odds, are they hearing something that no one else is?

They're creating odds based on what will make them $$. As much as they've sucked, there are still a lot of Knicks fans and getting even a small % of those to make a suckers bet will mean more $$ for Vegas.
