As in two podcasts - all baseball. Both feature our look into the trade market leading up to the deadline, with several teams playing their own version of the Brady Bunch - Machado, Machado, Machado. Like the sun rising each day, every morning brings yet another team listed as the "favorite" to land the All-Star shortstop. The Yankees, Dodgers, Phillies and Brewers showed the strongest interest, but the Indians, Braves and Diamondbacks all had interest at one point or another.
What will the Yankees do in their search for starting pitching? Most talks had them eyeballing Toronto's J.A. Happ, but after the beating the Pinstripers handed him, Happ has struggled in his last three starts. Loving the chance to get Machado and Zack Britton down the turnpike, Philadelphia has also entered the Happ sweepstakes. Could Brian Cashman reach out to a former Yanks exec in California to check on the asking price for starter Tyler Skapps? The Angels lag 14.5 games out of first and it might be time to trade away assets instead of doing their yearly patchwork.
Teams missing out on Machado might shift to a once former All-Star not having a banner year - the Twins Brian Dozier (possible to the Brewers) and relief pitching will also see a lot of coveted arms change uniforms by the 31st.
