"Leonard and DeRozan are both aware that an agreement could be imminent, and neither is expressing enthusiasm for the deal, league sources said." Link - ( New Window )
Yeah they lost Melo... but who did they sign to make their team better? You’re just replacing Melo’s shittiness with another less expensive one.
Probably but not for the reason you stated. Carmelo was abysmal, getting rid of him should make that entire team happy. Westbrook took the 3rd most attempts per game of his career last year, he’s shooting plenty and will be able to do that regardless of Carmelo Anthony.
Basically any player will be an upgrade for that team at this point.
His two highest totals was year 1 without KD and the 2d was when KD played 27 games.
George will get his shots, but I suspect Westbrook to get more shots and have the ball even more with the likes of abrines grant ferguson and Roberson getting more burn.
I don’t think they will either. But Toronto would probably flip KL for Ingram right today if it were offered. We’ll see. I’d rather see Ingram play with Lebron though
love playing this game, but hardaway, Mudiay, Dotson and protected 1st that turns into the 2 bobcats 2nd rounders after year 1, hardaway at $17 mil per year vs, derozan at $27 mil per year, plus Mudiay and Dotson and bobcats probable high second round picks vs. raptors potentially low 2nd round picks. Do you think spurs take thatover raptors deal?
as long as Kawhi shows up and is his normal self. Their group had gotten stale, many were calling for them to blow it up. Now they can take a run for a year with Kawhi and when he leaves, then they rebuild. Getting that first rounder protected is big. Plus they get out of Derozan's contract
@ChrisBHaynes
Kawhi Leonard has no desire to play in Toronto, league source tells ESPN.
I expect Ujiri will be fired if he made this trade without confirming Leonard's commitment to play here.
As a Knicks fan, I sure hope not. Given Dolan's obsession with Ujiri over the Melo trade negotiations (and later Bargnani) he might be the type of guy Dolan would clear house to get as President. That's the last thing the Knicks need.
RE: Wow great trade for Toronto’s even if for a rental Â

By process of elimination, the best young player any of the other teams was putting on the table was Saric. I like him, but I don't think he'll ever be as good as Derozan is, and with 3 years on his deal at age 28 that's just about ideal. Would have liked to see them get another first back in the deal but given the contract status and health status, they at least got something. Aldridge and Derozan basically give them 2-3 years to find their next good wave of young guys.
For Toronto this is a good deal because they were in inertia. It either accelerates a rebuild/retool next year where they either resign him or have a realistic shot to get under the cap and start changing their roster.
RE: It's the smart decision, why trade your young assets when you can just Â

Not really. They got rid of Derozan’s contract. Didn’t give up any young assets. And can still flip KL if he doesn’t want to be there. Keep in mind Casey didn’t even want Derozan on the floor during crucial parts of the playoffs
RE: It's the smart decision, why trade your young assets when you can just Â
highly doubt they trade anyone for a star player this year because they believe they can attract anyone, failed with george see what happens with kawhi
Do you think Spurs would have taken the following over the deal they just made with raptors:
Hardaway
Dotson
Mudiay
1st rounder protected, turns into 2 2nd rounders after 2019.
Reasons why - hardaway is $10 mil cheaper per year for next 3 seasons. If knicks protected pick does not play out the 2 2nd round picks would be the 2nd rounders from the bobcats in 2020 and 2021 which could be like late 1st rounders.
Basically is there a deal involving hardaway and other players( not including frank, Knox, Robinson and Zinger) and a pick that would have been better?
What about hardaway and unprotected 2019 for kawhi. Figure with kawhi knicks prob make east playoffs so the pick would not be as valauable. Even if he did not resign knicks would have cleared hardaway cap space for a mid round pick, which is not the end of the world.
still trying to compete and even though i am not a big derozan guy he is in another stratosphere then THJR. Dotson is a guy half of us wouldnt care if he was cut after that summer league and mudiay is nothing. So no i do not think the spurs even consider that. Now if they were looking to blow it up then if you make that pick unprotected and throw in another first or Frank then they might have considered it.
Why on earth would the Spurs want a useless pile of shit Â
as im not sure why they were so good last year. Also id say its much more likely that MINN misses the playoffs then SA or OKC. The west is so deep its crazy.

Lillard and mccullom with nurkic isn’t bad. Good role players too.
Minnesota if they trade butler will take a massive step back. But towns, Butler, Wiggins, and Teague is better than what OKC has starting.

and towns is very good but i said this when he was drafted, he doesnt seem to have thath alpha mentality, he wknt take over a game when needed
RE: RE: RE: I heard yesterday that the Lakers aren't offering anything Â
of real value. I'm shocked they're willing to punt a season of LeBron over Kuzma and/or Brandon Ingram.
It's the smart decision, why trade your young assets when you can just sign Kawhi in the offseason? Not like they won't be in the running for the Championship this season anyway. The Lakers won't beat GS but they will be in the playoffs
lakers have zero chance at a championship this year, they may not even make the playoffs
Wanna bet they win 55 games?

yesterday & Chris Vernon, one of the hosts, was absolutely killing KAT. He was basically saying that he has no killer instinct. Kevin O'Connor, the other host, said it was coaching malpractice for Thibs to design so few plays for KAT in the playoffs.
Without injuries, they have as much chance to beat the Warriors as the Knicks do. Zero
I dont think they punted trying to get Kawhi, I think the Spurs were never going to trade him there. Popovich isn't letting a player dictate everything

it is like orioles with machado, unless they got everything they wanted they were not trading him to yankees.
if lakers offered kuzma and ingram and a pick they probably do it
They traded away their all-star player that is the main reason they were the #1 seed in the East. He helped them win more than anyone else on that team. They do this when Lebron James is finally gone and Cleveland has been the one who has knocked them out of the playoffs 3 straight years. They also gave up a young player who may develop and a possible 1st round pick for a guy that won't stay no matter what. He may not even play for them. So unless they trade Leonard now to like the Lakers or another team for young players this makes no sense. In fact with Lebron gone now this was their best chance to make the finals and they blew it up! You won't sign a better player for 27 mil a year that contract is a good deal. He was also super loyal and well loved there. This was a horrible deal for Toronto.
For Leonard? That would be a mistake for LA. Stick with Kuzma and Ingram.
I wouldn't trade Ingram for Leonard straight up. Ball and Kuzma sure, but not Leonard.
To clarify because there is no guarantee Leonard stays or is healthy not because he isn't worth the trade. He is way better than Ingram but that is to much to give up for the risk. Ingram made huge strides last year and should continue to be really good.

Leonard is a significantly better player than DeRozan. If you think the main piece to the deal is competing in Lebron's absence to get to the finals than it's a no brainer. DeRozan is not a good defensive player and is especially a terrible man defender. Leonard is one of the best defensive players in the game. He's as good if not better on offense and can actually shoot from 3 unlike DeRozan. DeRozan is a good player but Kawhi is a great one.

Nets: RHJ

Don't underestimate the desire to get below the tax threshold, too.

LBJ is running up against father time would be the only reason

They just "cut" Julius Randle so they could sign Rondo, so it isn't a stretch to think they are in a win now mode.

1. Warriors
2. Rockets
3. Lakers
4. Trailblazers
5. TWolves
6. Jazz
7. Nuggets
8. Pelicans
Dep, I can see the Spurs missing the playoffs, but OKC? No way IMO.

82-0

They need some shooting. Maybe the Ukraine kid or try to use Ball to get one.
Id bet on Ingram making another jump. With Kuzma, LeBron has plenty to work with. McGee will be a nice piece with LeBron.
that was my point
