Ken Gelman is a good guy, we've been trading Giants games the past few months and I got a few from his archives which I'll do more reviews on if my stupid job would stop getting in the way of me having fun.
The victory formation , only a few short years after the fumble.
I could go on about all the players I loved back then; but I’ll name just 1 to coincide with Eric’s Special Teams preview: Dave Jennings.
That rare punter who is a weapon in his own right.
kick in watching that game - aside from Mark Haynes' TD on the kickoff - was just comparing the body types with today's players. I also had to chuckle when Summerall and Madden were surprised to see a team in the shotgun in the red zone. Times have changed!
crying my eyes out that morning because my dad went to the game and i wanted to go so bad since it was the first season i went to more than one game and having been at the game the week before vs Dallas i didn't want to miss it .The Jets also played at shea that day vs the Bills .
for that game -- hanging over a private dock in Bermuda, desperately rotating the radio antenna trying to get a signal. Visiting with my inlaws. Finally got locked on right before the TD fumble recovery. Almost fell in the damn water.
& they stayed with the Niners for awhile the next game . Harry’s pick & then everybody on their offense being afraid to tackle him .
The thing is they took two steps back the next two seasons . The strike in 82. Harry and Eddie Lee Ivory hitting each other so hard that they caused a power outage . That horrible loss to the Falcons . Leon Perry fumbling at the goal line . Glazebrook or Pridemore ( I always got them confused) playing rope-a-dope with Brunner on the return . Danelo fucking up on FGs & a PAT. That loss had it all.
‘83 was a mess . But Parcells took total command at the end of the year . The valiant effort at RFK a portent of good things .
Even before the Eagles playoff win , the Renaissance probably began when they beat the Cowboys at the end of the regular season. Jennings punting out of his end zone . Byron Hunt sticking it to his hometown team . Danelo again able to connect after first experiencing adversity .
Is what cemented me as a fan. I was 7 years old, and we used to watch at my dad's friend's house who was in the FBI and he had a C-band satellite dish and we watched there every Sunday. I hated going there because they used to yell at the TV for hours but somehow me and his son Ryan were good luck charms and they made us sit there and watch. When Joe Danelo kicked that FG everyone went nuts and I had no idea why.
(not sure I spelled that right) ... there is a name from the past.
Anybody remember the opening shots to the "Odd Couple"? when Murray the cop is at the front door and his nose was sticking through the peep hole? The is what Danelo reminded me off = a helmet and a nose.

Ah, Wally Henry Gotta love him
I cut her off saying, "Yeah, let's not see each other anymore" and got to the game.
If I missed the opening to that game, I'd still be kicking myself.
Haha, glad you checked. I didn’t think he ever did, though I believe he paid dearly for it more than once.

That was Perkins coaching that team ... I thought Parcells started Brunner over Simms ... my bad.
