NFT: Suggestions for play in NYC in September

Big d E 2 : 7/18/2018 5:24 pm
We live in Dallas but will be up in NYC in September. We have seen Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway last year and it was amazing. My wife and I are hoping to see another show while we are there this year.

Any suggestions of great shows you have seen? We tend to like uplifting musicals.

Thanks in advance.
Havent seen it but

a HS buddy of mine wrote "The Bands Visit" and it won all the Tonys.

It's The Band's Visit or nothing. Unless you haven't seen the The Lion King or other legacy shows that's a good choice for what you asked for.

Good sets after Labor Day. (Link)

Also, if you would consider something other than a play, Jazz at Lincoln Center typically has some great stuff in September.

the songbook show Girl From the North Country will be in previews Off Broadway. The show won a slew of nominations and awards in London last season.

I agree, the show was hysterical. But at the same time, the couple sitting next to me GTFO'd at intermission, so I guess it's not for everyone.

I recently saw Come From Away and thought it was absolutely fantastic. It's based on a true story about the town of Gander, Newfoundland on 9/11. All the transatlantic flights were grounded in Gander, and the town's population more than doubled. It's story about how the townsfolk opened their hearts and homes for those who were stranded. It was really well done.
