Diaz was #Dodgers No. 4 prospect, according to @MLBPipeline. Bannon, a third baseman, was No. 27. Kremer, a right-handed pitcher, was No. 28. Pop is a right-hander in High A. Valera is a 26-year-old 2B who has seen time in majors this season.
this is for essentially a 60+ game rental. there is no guarantee to make the playoffs, although adding Machado should improve an already very good Dodger team. there is also no guarantee or perhaps even liklihood that Machado will re-sign with the Dodgers. ao it's truly just a rental. so how much more of a return were you expecting!
I missed something but WHY do the Dodgers need MM?
They're not exactly without talent.
I'm likely wrong, but if he's a rental, I do not see it going working out.
Given their dumpster seasons, I hope they get 2 ML players out of that bunch.
who some people think might be a star and a bunch of lottery tickets. Usually, one legit prospect is the going rate for 2-month rentals. You get into a year or more of control and obviously the package brings back much more.

Seager is out of the year and there was a need on top of the fact that he really makes that lineup quite awesome. Perfect fit. There will be a little of a logjam in the OF because of it but that is a great problem to have.

I dont follow the Dodgers but looking at their 3B/SS production its pretty awful. And Corey Seager is out for the year.
Makes sense for the Dodgers to add him, should separate them in a close race.
So you can't assume that the MLB Pipeline rankings are an accurate representation of the current consensus. Kremer seems like a prospect who was on the rise at the time of the trade...
Quote:
Kremer struggled as a swingman in high Class A last year but returned to level in 2018 and dominated as a starter. The performance netted Kremer his first Double-A promotion in early July, though he would make only one Texas League start (a seven-inning, 11-strikeout gem) before heading to the Orioles as one of five prospects dealt by the Dodgers to get Manny Machado.

The Red Sox werent interested, I dont see how thats relevant

didnt get him, and we didnt trade valuable players/prospects so this is a great day for Yankees fans.

Whether they were interested or not, he's out of the AL East and not directly in the Yankees path to the World Series. It's relevant.
...for the Yankees.
I was actually hoping that the Phillies were going to give up a haul for Machado but then lose him in free agency to Atlanta.
