Jim Kelly is receiving the Jimmy V award. Much respect for the man and his family

Very few people experience...

the highs and lows that Jim Kelly has. The death of his 8 year old son, his bouts with Cancer... Through it all, he's shown grace and strength in difficult times. A few years ago, the Giants SB team talked about 'resilience.' This guy embodies resilience, faith and perseverance. Yeah... lots of respect for a guy like Jim Kelly.
Jim Kelly is one tough SOB

Say what you want about the espys, there have been some pretty memorable speeches over the years. This was another one.

I hope the Giants have contributed to his foundation, Kelly for Kids. In my book, leading a team to four consecutive SB's is one of the all-time great accomplishments in the history of the game. Prayers to him, his family, and all the families his foundation has helped.
He deserves it ....

I remember Jim Kelly's first appearance on Network Television
short lease : 7/26/2018 3:00 am : link
I think it was either pre-game or half-time and he sat down for a few minutes with "the crew" that was doing the AFC game ....

Greg Gumbel greets him coming back from commercial ...

"Hi Jim, it is good to see you."

and Kelly replies (without missing a beat) ...

"Yeah, It is better than being viewed."

The rest of the hosts sort of didn't know how to laugh at his obvious joke. I remember thinking - what a great attitude (and a great line) and good for him.

I should have included his first appearance on network television AFTER he was in remission and back in the public eye.
