Why hasn’t he had the surgeries yet? At this point if he waits til August to shut down and have he surgery he’s missing spring training and the start of next year!
What a mess!
I mean he clearly looks on the decline physically and has added weight. He’s an AL DH going forward but we can’t move him because of the massive salary.
Surgery to resect heel spurs does not have a really high success rate. The likelihood that both heels will respond well to surgery is only about 60-65% at best.
him dogging it and being soft. I always appreciated his talent but just didn’t like his makeup. That being said, I wasn’t “upset” that we signed him and really thought he could be the big swinging dick that this club needed. Boy was I wrong. And the FO seems to bungle everything they do.
in terms of his initial instinct to stay away from Cespedes. First he tried for Zobrist, he missed out to the Royals. He wanted Upton but the price was supposedly insane and the Pads ended up not dealing him. Then he agreed to the deal for Gomez, who had his own issues but only would have cost Wheeler and never would have gotten resigned for $100m. Then he wanted Bruce, who again would have only cost Wheeler.
Cespedes was his last choice. Of course he played so well he became a folk hero. And of course Fulmer turned into the best player the farm has produced since that moment in time. And of course Cespedes turned into a pumpkin the second he signed that contract. All very Mets.
Seeing surgeons and doctors. The BBI contingency already knows he is taking and just being a dog who is scamming the team.
Hopefully the Mets brass is consulting you all and keep playing him.
Lol, there’s always one guy that loves to play the contrarian.
If you haven’t seen the long history of Cespedes dogging it then you are just blind. Not healthy enough to stand in left field but has no problem playing golf while on the DL. Yeah, team player.
But go on...

To be fair, Fulmer is still living off of his nice rookie season, as far as reputation goes. He’s gone completely the wrong direction since then. He hasn’t been near as good as a lot of people seem to think he is. And now he’s injured again.
.
Cespedes is a lost cause as a Met. He will have surgery and take 2 years to recover. Thank goodness we have Bautista this season and a recovered Bruce for next season.
we can trade him for the giant contract of Stanton's
Someone called into the Fan last week and suggested in order for the Yanks to trade for degrom they would have to takes cespedes also. It will never happen of course.
I believe Z, for all the shit he gets around here, was the only one questioning resigning him while everyone ranted and raved at him for being nuts lol

Sadly we are so desperate for the shitty owners to field a team with stars I think we all wanted to believe Cespedes was the next piazza.

He sounds like a scam artist, scamming the team and the fans.
The wilpons will never pony up for major free agents again.

They barely did for Cespedes anyway lol. He had to literally fall into their lap at their price and years.
Hopefully the Mets brass is consulting you all and keep playing him.

Ummm, no.
There has to be one front office person w enough analytical sense to see this as a time frame to begin a new roster to build around right?
No more contracts more than 3 years. I don’t get MLB for not having non-guaranteed deals or more club options for performance or injury issues.
Heck pay them extra for lesser years.
Sadly we are so desperate for the shitty owners to field a team with stars I think we all wanted to believe Cespedes was the next piazza.
Thank you.
