NGT: Urban Meyer potentially in hot water

FranknWeezer : 8/1/2018 11:32 am
Concerns an Ohio State WR Coach's domestic violence and Urban's turning a deaf ear towards it and recently lying about it at Media Day.

A pretty well-put together piece of journalism by Brett McMurphy (ESPN), IMO.

Will be interesting to see if Urban survives this. Have a read.

needs to clean house of the entire athletic department. Not sure they will, but the AD needs to go as well. They all knew of the 2015 incident and did nothing. Not one of them deserves to keep their job.

whoever

Meyer is paying to help him with PR should also be out of a job. He certainly didnt help himself by releasing that statement whatsoever
Holy shit

I just read Urbans tweet and smiths interview.

Urb is truly a scumbag.....
How could he say my intention
MookGiants : 8/3/2018 7:02 pm : link
was not to say anything misleading or inaccurate.

He blatantly lied and knew he was blatantly lying.

What a piece of shit.
This really shouldn't...

What should matter is lying. A lot of people knew about the 2015 incident including the police, the victim's family and most in the football program.

Meyer firing the coach likely isn't ending the abuse. Focus on the reasons Meyer should be fired, not thinking something was going to stop from his action or inaction
Does his tweet/statement mean he lied though?
Jim in Forest Hills : 8/4/2018 11:36 am : link
He was unprepared and nervous so he answered incorrectly at the time of the interview, are we saying that's not lying?

People are right to be highly skeptical given the reported information.

And let's be honest, he was unprepared and nervous? A veteran, big time college football head coach? Seems very unlikely.
So the latest....

Smith arrested in 2013. Was sentenced to probation and some driving privileges revoked. Now this is all public record. Yet, somehow Urb knew “nothing” about it. Especially the driving part in the aftermath. Smith wanted to keep it on the hush-hush.

Also, Smith convinced Urb that the tooth fairy and Santa clause were real as well.

Go Badgers!!!

The worst they ever did was buy sneakers at a discount from a store that gave *everybody* discounts. And they got more than a slap on the wrist.

I think when you combine this with the gymnastics team's abuse scandal, I wonder if some shine will come off that dotted "i"??

To be fair, Meyer has said nothing about this. Smith and his lawyer have spoken. And both have said Meyer was never told.

So the man who is one of the most powerful person not only in sports but also the state of Florida and Ohio - didn’t know of a DUI that any Joe Blow on a corner lot would have known? For such a powerful person, he sure doesn’t know a lot of what’s going on around him, right?

required to take action if he did know??

Again - the HC of a football team isn't expected to be a judge and jury, he's expected to win football games - which is exactly why blind eyes are often turned.

The key still remain s - is Meyer's lying to a reporter a fireable offense?

The rest is just a question of morality or ethics.

We still don’t know for a fact he reported the abuse either. Saying one did and have an AD say he did isn’t concrete.

FMiC, I posted this on the 1st page.

from the OP's link

"If Urban Meyer knew about the domestic violence issues, he may have violated his contract and could be fired with cause. The contract says he must "promptly report to Ohio State's Title IX Coordinator for Athletics any known violations of Ohio State's Sexual Misconduct Policy (including but not limited to sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate violence and stalking) that involve any student, faculty or staff."

I don't think there's a legal obligation for him to do anything on that

There isn't, it's a non-story. This has taken so many ridiculous turns with various reports coming out that have nothing to do with the issue at hand. It's a complete mess.

I don't know what Meyer knew or didn't. I'm just pointing out the fact that Meyer hasn't said anything on this circumstance, just Smith and his lawyer.

But what if Meyer did know? What's the problem?

Outside of beating his wife, ordering sex toys to his office, photographing himself screwing around with another woman, & taking dick picks at the White House, Smith seems like a good dude.
