IMO they know he can be the backup at G, and are now seeing if he can be the backup at RT. If he can then they don't need to go get one, if not then he shifts back to G and they find a backup somewhere. Plus in doing this it gives others time to make the team by getting playing time at G.
Jerry has $925K guaranteed (as part of the paycut he took)...
On March 17, 2018 Jerry agreed to a paycut that reduced his salary from $3.325 to $2 million. As part of the paycut Jerry received $925,000 in guarantees, including a $400,000 roster bonus, and the opportunity for free agency in 2019. There are $500,ooo in per game bonuses as part of the contract.

Olivier Vernon has had just a terrific camp and really gotten after the quarterback. But, Nate Solder just did a really nice job bumping him off and allowing Eli Manning to step up in the pocket and deliver a strike. #Giants
He's still going to take his lumps. He's a smart guy with good athleticism and throws a nice pass. He'll be OK. Let's see him in the Pre-Season. He'll most likely get a majority of the snaps this year.
William Gay made nice play in end zone to deny Evan Engram earlier. Cut off his route and gave Engram very little room along left side.
Gay now has ice wrap on upper right leg.
Sounds like the extra pads practices made for some fatigue today
He has no clue what hes looking at. I watched Eli yesterday. He doesnt make every throw full out. A lot of his throws are touch and placement throws. He rifled several throws that I saw. Webbs issue is he trusts his arm too much. He thinks he sees a tight window his arm will overcome. He will learn as he plays more. Whats good is even if he screws up with a bad throw he keeps on slinging it. Short memory.
Dont listen to these beat guys. They dont know anymore than we do.

The #Giants have a workout in progress. Know theyve been looking heavily at cornerbacks. One of the players who has come through recently is former Panthers CB Zack Sanchez.
Hard to argue with view that the Giants are going to struggle
He played surprisingly well last season and should be the primary guard off the bench this season. The Giants just need to bring in another OT and I will feel very good about the depth.

Maybe he needs to have a longer memory because apparently these are the same issues that dogged him as a college QB (from Boylhart)....

It comes down to this, Davis thinks he is a better quarterback than he actually is. Im sure that he thinks he works hard at his craft but the truth is either he works hard and is not working smart or is not working hard enough...Every time he comes off his 1st receiver I hold my breath because I know he is either going to miss the receiver badly, throw an interception or worse throw a ball he has no business throwing because he doesnt have that type of talent

Yup. This is what worries me about him. He thinks he's Brett Favre but he's not.
Davis Webb needs reps. Give the kid a break. He's a 2nd year player and he learning his 2nd new offense. Young players have growing pains. By all reports, he is a hard worker. Let him work. I can't believe people are scrutinizing an INT thrown in a training camp practice....SIX DAYS BEFORE THE FIRST PRESEASON GAME. Seriously?
Any more picks thrown by Webb and coaches really need to consider
at CB this season. And hold onto your butts if Jenkins happens to go down for any bit of time...
You can probably say this about most teams and their top corner.
Not many teams out there with CB depth good enough to withstand losing their #1 guy. In fact, many teams don't even have a CB as good as Jenkins on their roster at all.

Yeah they have a lot of nerve even reporting that he threw an INT in camp, we don't even have any idea whose fault it was, maybe the receiver ran the wrong route. For that matter, they shouldn't mention any incompletions as well, it's just the first week in August for crying out loud. We should only be told about completed passes that go for a TD and there should be no mention of who was covering the receiver at the time, because after all it's only August and it would be a crime for anyone to think that it might've been the CB's fault when it may not even have been his man, he could've been helping out another DB who blew the assignment.
We should all just shut up and applaud everything that happens in camp because what the fuck do we know anyway! These guys are working their asses off in the hot sun and we're just sitting at our computers throwing them shade (and not the kind of shade that keeps the sun out of their eyes, which is another thing, we don't know if the sun was in Webb's eyes when he threw that INT!).
No one is saying to cut Webb or that he can't eventually get better,

Watch his play in college.
Listen to him in interviews and he talks glowingly about his arm strength.
He's overconfident and it gets him in trouble on the field.
I like Webb as much as anyone else and I'm rooting for him. But I'm not going to pretend the issue doesn't exist just because its training camp.
