Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/6/2018 9:47 am : link
It's LT. He's already got a few of these portrait shows.

Anyhoo it's a travesty LT doesn't get 2 hours like Little Bill.

I could care less about LT's off field stuff, hope they don't focus on that.

They need to spend 2 hours on how LT transformed the game and how he invented the sack, strip sack, tackling rbs from behind, angled LT, long big athletic big LTs, H-back, 11 personnel...

I love me some LT, but...

"Invented the sack" ?

Deacon Jones first coined the term "sack". He literally made up the word. They started counting them as an official statistic one year after LT entered the league, but people were using the word long before it was counted officially. It has been determined that Deacon Jones would have had 173.5 sacks if they had been counted during his time, which would put him 3rd on the all-time sack list behind Reggie White and Bruce Smith (ahead of LT).

LT certainly revolutionized the way defense and particularly his position was played, and even revolutionized rushing the quarterback in his generation, but he did not invent the sack.

Exaggerating a little, but I think the NFL did start recording sacks as a stat largely because of LT.
SHowtime made an LT documentary

It was 5 years ago. Its called LT: The Life and Times.

Its available for free on Vimeo.

There are three types
PaulN : 8/6/2018 3:43 pm : link
Of people who say anything negative about LT in respect with what he did for the Giants.

First there is the jealous non Giant fans who hate LT because he crippled their favorite team.

Second there is the typical anti New York fan, they are all over the place and are the majority of these types.

Then there is the newer New York Giant fan that wants to believe that everything today is better when it is not.

LT is the greatest Giant ever and it is not even close. it was his play that turned this franchise from the jokes of the NFL to one of the best franchises in the game. Since his arrival to new York the Giants have been an excellent franchise.

As great a player as Strahan was, and he was a great, great player, he was not close to LT, as a player and with the impact he had on the franchise.

As a fan, he was the most exciting player I have ever watched, he was so good you did not want top miss a single down that he played, and he rarely misse4d a single down that he could have played on Sunday's. You want to focus on his troubles, go ahead, that is not what I think of when I think of LT.

Sure glad

The NFL network thought it was best to have a show on Sean Taylor, "the saint" long before they had a show on LT.

Just think about all the specials they ran before they finally gave us an LT special. Other then LT, who is the other players they have covered from the Giants?

How many Cowboys and Steelers have they covered, did we already have a Big Ben "the rapist" special, what about Ray Lewis "the murderer", must have had a real special on that great player.

Hard to watch any of these based networks anymore, I know I only watch when I have to anymore, I gave up on these clowns long ago.
yeah, I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking here

LT: The Life and Times was pretty definitive.

And, whatever else you might think of LT, the last scene was pretty awesome.
can't get enough
pjcas18 : 8/6/2018 3:56 pm : link
of LT stuff, don't care about the showtime special (which I liked), the Football Life episodes are very well done IMO.

Looking forward to this.

I bet though he wasn't one of the first Football Life episodes because of all the other LT documentaries out there.

Now seems like a good time for this to be released.
LT was my favorite player....
bw in dc : 8/6/2018 6:03 pm : link
He was a football phenomenon. I’ve always felt that he was so unique that we would never see anything close to his ability. And I feel that has played out...

But I’ve become so disgusted by his personal choices that I find it hard to even look at him now. He really is a reprehensible human being.
Hope they focus
tomjgiant : 8/6/2018 6:27 pm : link
on the Football Life, his career and things that happened during his playing years. Yes,even the negative because that is all part of the story .What happened after he retired ,all they would look at are the bad things, and there were plenty but that would really take the whole football thing down the drain.

You're telling me that because LT had 11 sacks in his rookie season, they suddenly started counting it as a statistic the very next year? Many people had way more sacks than that in a given season prior to 1985.
