I don't trust anyone who says anything regarding Odell except for Odell and I don't always believe him. Now Jarvis Landry thinks Odell would be up for moving from NYC to Cleveland to play for a moribund franchise run by incompetents for decades? Keep dreaming dummo.
Shut it Jarvis. - (

It's possible he leaves NY, but I wouldn't expect for CLE of BUF - more likely LA, MIA, CHI maybe, but I think the market will matter for him. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
I doubt Beckham cares much about playing for the Giants vs. anyone else, same as the majority of the players.

I don’t agree. Just look at QBs, no one wants to go there. I don’t think market matters as much anymore, but careers don’t end well in Cleveland, it should be avoidable unless the money was so overwhelming that it didn’t matter.
This is like a few years ago, when NYers couldn't comprehend that LeBron or any sane person would choose Miami over the Knicks.
New Yorkers need to get over themselves a little bit about New York. And I'm from here.
I like Odell as much as any other Giants fan, but I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves for a better contract.
There you go Jon nipped that one in a bud .......
He's still under contract with NYG right now. He can't just sign with Cleveland.

It’s not that it’s crazy as much as it is a bad business move. Who’s had a storied career in Cleveland in the last outside of Joe Thomas? Most FA that sign there fade away and that’s bad for business. Odell will make money wherever he goes but picking a team with this track record will likely lose him a ton of money long term.
Peyton Manning was the face of the NFL as an Indianapolis Colt. Aaron Rodgers' marketability isn't hurt because he's a Packer. OBJ could play for any team and he'd do more for the franchise's marketability than he would hurt his own by being there, because he is a superstar, and would be one if he played in Buffalo, Indianapolis, or Jacksonville.
What is Cleveland going to give up for Odell?
I'd definitely adopt a wait and see attitude on that one. The Browns have been a disaster for most of the 20 seasons since they returned to the league.
That's some quality irony.
Would he get that same deal in CLE when it expires?
Don't know, but you could make a case NY gives him a higher profile. Opening up millions in more endorsement opportunities than CLE - outside of shoe contracts.
Team success and location I think are the two primary drivers for endorsements.
I agree he's not going anywhere, but franchising Beckham two times after paying him the 5th year option would be a ridiculous use of resources by the Giants.
That would mean the Giants paid him 44M guaranteed in three seasons, and then he can bolt, eg they don't get the benefit of upfront guarantees with risk free later seasons.
For example they could have potentially signed him (now) for a 5 year 80M contract with 50M guaranteed (all topping Antonio Brown's deal by a decent margin).
and still have him for another two seasons after the 2nd FT with very little risk if they wanted to front load the contract.
I wonder just how much these guys pull in from this stuff?
“Do away with all of it, that would be nice,’’ Shepard said. “I wish I didn’t have to do it. Eli has a whole bunch of money, so he’s not really worried about the money part of that. For guys like me, it’s good for me. You think sometimes, ‘If I didn’t have social media, I wouldn’t see some of the nasty comments after a loss or whatever.’ That’s just the way it goes. You kinda have to have tough skin.’’
Beckham headed into training camp alerting his Instagram followers he was stepping off the platform for a while, writing, “For now my focus is to ball and get better everyday!’’ Not much later this summer, Beckham is expected to sign a mega-deal that could approach $100 million. Once he secures it, maybe he backs off on social media entirely.
“I don’t know, he might,’’ Shepard said, before smiling and thinking otherwise. “There still might be a whole bunch of money for him on that.’’

when he could play for a team that was 3-13 last year
The average of the top three WR's is 16-16.5M per.....
So 17-18M should do it, 85-90M....the hangup could be the guarantee money....and how much the Giants want to see him in action, before they make their final offer....
If he is talking "qb money", then he gets tagged next year....
Yeah, that's pretty obvious. If you say so.

It seems pretty obvious that Beckham's people had his LSU buddy make this public statement.

What, you think it's coincidence when this type of thing comes out? It's a game being played by both sides. I wasn't trying to besmirch Beckham's honor.
This is IMO useless and won’t get him another dime but agents want to show players they are doing something for that 3%. I wouldn’t hire an agent as much as a great contract lawyer. Most of these agents are just baby sitters and bullshit artists blowing smoke up a guys ass I think the best agents get what I would call a smart deal When we hear about huge numbers for headlines but it’s ALWAYS about he guaranteed cash. ALWAYS. IMO it’s best to keep most of this crap out of the press. Glorified real estate agents

It is much easier to be a star in NYC. Think Strahan gets the Regis gig if he played in Green Bay? Winning helps...but so does the market.
As Reggie Jackson said when he played for the Oakland A's, "If I played in New York they would name a candy bar after me." He moved to New York and they named a candy bar after him.
You don't HAVE TO play in New York to become a star but it is a heck of lot easier than playing in Cleveland.
Odell would be a fool to go to Cleveland. It would be a bad business decision for both football and his brand. Basically any other franchise would be a far better option.

Normally I'd agree with this before this regime because Haslam really hasn't owned the Browns that long, Dorsey is in his first year as GM, and Jackson is in his 3rd season and granted his 1 - 31 two-season record is so awful it's almost unbelievable I think he's replaceable should this year not show improvement. I don't believe that past failures or abominations for this franchise should indicate future failures for this group in Cleveland.
Otherwise people could have made the same argument about the 60's/70's Giants.
The Browns have gone 15 years without making the playoffs, the Giants went 18 or 19.
Not this year. But the future depends on Mayfield.
Next year if they added Beckham AND Mayfield proves to not be a total disaster then I think they'd have a chance to reach the playoffs.
I like their OL, their D is littered with high picks and high potential, and they now have some skill guys on O with Gordon, Landry, Chubb, Hyde, add in Beckham and that's a dangerous group.
If NYG was motivated to move Beckham and Cleveland motivated to trade for him, the time was pre-draft when the Browns had that #4 pick they could have moved.
The best thing to hope for now is that NYG and Beckham can meet in the middle and that the Beckham of the last few months is the Beckham moving forward.
I know, and I agree and I also agree with those who have a) doubts he'll go anywhere and b) if he does it would be to Cleveland.
and maybe I'm the sucker who used to buy into the Rams every year as the "dark horse" but I like a lot of what Cleveland is doing.
