If Alonzo Russell had any chance of making the team, it may have just slipped through his fingertips. Broke wide open, 40 yards downfield, and Alex Tanney hit him in stride ... But, Russell bobbled the ball 4 times before it hit the turf. #Giants

Much lighter practice for the #Giants today. Primarily made up of install periods and individual drills. Pat Shurmur, smartly, taking his foot off the gas-pedal two days before the preseason opener.

Coach Shurmur: Im very confident that we can create pressure on the edge...as Im around these guys more and more you can see they can generate a pass rush. #GiantsCamp
Shurmur says he puts a lot of value on special teams and they can help a guy make a team, even if other role is smaller...calls them "4th down" players

Nice play for the offense but holy crap was that bad by the defense. All the keys for pass were there. The LBs need to get their heads out of the backfield. The OL were totally in pass protection. The receivers all released. The actual playaction wasn't that great. I hope they have better recognition in the regular season.

Lauletta threads the needle to a wide-open Jawill Davis in 7-on-7, but it bounces off Davis hands incomplete. Bad drop. #Giants
How do you thread the needle to someone wide open? Did Lauletta have to throw it through outstretched arms of defenders?
Keep stuff like this in mind any time you think of some people in the media as "experts". That statement literally means nothing. It's a contradiction of itself.

Yeah, it wasn't a great sell job by the offense.
But maybe that's an example of what having a weapon at RB can do. The defense has to always think he's getting the ball.
Your keys like robbie said is a disciplined defense. Great threat at RB or not, defense has believe in what they see (keys)
Yeah, that's accurate, but without knowing what kind of preparation the defense would do in training camp for practices, it's hard to say they should know their keys. The offense is still establishing itself. A lot of what you see this time of year might not even make it into the regular playbook. I might be dead wrong here, but I don't think the defense film studies the offense at this point in the offseason the same way you prep for regular season action.
What causes it? They are cheating against a threat they anticipate can hurt them. Obviously we're talking about camp practice in shells, but it's nice to see the very possibility of a run pose such a threat. A deadly play-action will almost certainly assure the end of our offensive struggles.
Eli maybe more so than others . It will be nice to see less
of the dink and dunk stuff . I am curious to see Adams TE as
well does he become more of a dominate type blocker as well
as a receiving threat . I wonder if we will run more two TE sets on early downs to get the run game established .

Final #Giants practice before Thursday nights preseason opener against the #Browns. No pads, as expected.
Three practices open next week, but all in Michigan.
I think part of that is that they are doing team practices with Detroit next week. Dont quote me on that though.

Fatigue too, emotion. If you're getting pounded in the run game as a unit, it's just human nature to start cheating on the threat of the run.
