Re-cap in case you missed it:
On the offensive line: Guys are coming together. "We are only going to go as far as the fronts will take us, the O-line, the D-line."
On OBJ: "I've been pleased all along, any interaction I've had with him has been very professional." "He's all about business here in the building." "Loves to practice."
"He's been out there, he looks great, I'm a little cautious with his reps because he is coming back from injury."
On Eli: "It's all about him trying to learn how to drive this car, and I think he's got a pretty good grasp of it already."
On the TE's, Engram and Ellison: "I really believe in 12 personnel, it gives you the ability to play the 1-back...we're going to use that grouping."
On Engram: "I'm very fond of what I've seen from Evan to this point. He's been very professional to this point, he's been very professional about his work, he's catching the ball great, he's running good routes, I think he can be a tough matchup for defenses."
On Ellison: "I certainly have a great appreciation for Rhett, having been with him one year in Minnesota. We really missed something when he left a year ago. He's tough, he's gritty, he understands his role, and when you throw him the ball he can make a play."
On Saquon: "He's unique in a lot of ways." "He's got a maturity, an eye for the game." "You can tell immediately when we start working on blitz drills, he understands who to block, he's big enough to step up to close the window."
"Catches the ball extremely well, and he's obviously an outstanding runner. We're seeing all the things we thought we would see when we drafted him. He is a rookie, and he makes mistakes but I think what's important is you don't see him repeat mistakes, and it shows me that there's a level of maturity there that's a little bit unique."
On the preseason games: "We're gonna play the whole roster and see how it plays out." "We're trying to learn about our team."
On Bettcher's blitzes: "We've practiced a lot of blitz." "It's been good for both sides." "It's fun to see we are going to have ways to pressure the quarterback if we want to do it with more than 4 rushers."
On difference between him in his first tour as a head coach to now: "I'm more at ease with what my role is." "I've hired an outstanding staff and I need to let them do their work." In Cleveland, "I didn't hire an offensive coordinator, so I can see right now that made it very difficult. Mike (Shula) can do it, call the plays and be outstanding. There's a lot of things going on that I can spend more time preparing for, it's an important thing I learned."
You really have to wonder how NFL teams were interested in Ben. He has to be a different person behind closed doors. It's the only explanation.
No problemo.
When you play the Giants you won't be worried about Beckham and Eli anymore. You'll be worried about stopping the Saquon Barkley show.

While I agree about the difference between the two coaches, as Shurmur admits he’s grown from his first stint as a HC. So you expect him to have a better showing than Big Mac.

What amazed me was that Ellison was not used in helping in pass blocking. Forget about using him as a receiver, but given how horrible we were, he could have at least contributed in giving Eli a little more time to pass the ball. Mcadoo was so hung up on his 11 personnel and it was seriously to his detriment.
It is going to be night and day to see how this offense operates under shurmur from what mcadoo ran. That in itself has me excited.

to be fair, he did play over 50% of the snaps during Mac's reign

It's exciting to imagine the Giants with an innovative offensive and defensive game plan. It's been a very very long time since that's been the case.

How there wasn t really much of a role for a solid football player like Ellison last season.

He played just under 50% of the offensive snaps (49.68% to be precise)
Player snap counts - ( New Window )
that doesn't change the fact that he played around 50% of the snaps on O.
I was surprised the number was that high

Ellison played a lot more after mcadoo was fired. Mcadoo didn’t use Ellison nearly enough especially early on in the season when the Wrs were hurt.
